There’s something about dirt that always gets our Hikers interested. 🌿
Our 2-year-olds gathered together in the Outdoor Classroom to dig, scoop, examine the soil, and explore alongside their friends. They used garden tools, got their hands dirty, and took time to look closely at what they found.
This is what our Outdoor Classroom is all about—extending learning beyond the walls of the classroom and giving children opportunities to explore natural materials, move, play, and follow their curiosity.

🌿 Learning in our Outdoor Classroom
Our Rangers group headed to the Garden Area for a hands-on experience in making natural paints!
Using blueberries, flowers, herbs and water, the children crushed and mixed different ingredients to see what colors they could create. They experimented with the results, compared the colors to regular paints and talked about where these colors can be found in nature.
It’s a great example of what our Outdoor Classroom is all about.
At Summit Kids Academy, outdoor time is much more than recess. Different areas of our Outdoor Classroom give children opportunities to explore, experiment, create and learn through real experiences.
On this day, a simple question — “Can we make paint from nature?” — turned into art, science, sensory exploration and a lot of fun.
