What an Inspiring Toastmasters Meeting! ✨
Last week, our club took a beautiful trip through time. Our Sergeant at Arms opened with memories of the very first Toastmasters meeting back in 1924, reminding us that every great movement begins with a single brave voice. Then our President shared a poem by Frederic Ogden Nash — “The hold is full of cargo, the dock is full of men.” A poetic tribute to 102 years of helping people grow, speak, and shine.
🎤 Prepared Speeches That Moved Us
Toastmaster Chase delivered a powerful message in his speech, “Redefining Success.” He explored money, status, and the noise of social media — and reminded us that true success is rooted in values. Even an “ordinary” life can be extraordinary when lived with purpose.
Then Toastmaster KB, glowing with her contagious smile, presented her Icebreaker. She shared her journey of perseverance, curiosity, and the challenges she faced while building her life and career in California. Her story reminded us that growth begins with courage — the courage to try, to learn, and to keep moving forward.
💬 Table Topics: Fun, Laughter, and Discovery
• Toastmaster Bibi chose the 2027 eclipse in Spain over the 2028 eclipse in Australia — because why not mix astronomy with tapas?
• Toastmaster Cindy shared her first airplane adventure, traveling with her brother on a Midwest university tour.
• Toastmaster Sonia celebrated potatoes in all their glory — mashed, steamed, hash browns… a true potato ambassador.
• Toastmaster Oliver handled a tricky Star Trek question from “1921” and reminded us he loves adventure movies.
• Toastmaster Florence joked that Johnny Nash was her best friend — then proved it by singing “I Can See Clearly Now.” A moment of joy that lit up the room.
🌟 A Meeting Full of Energy, Heart, and Inspiration
Every story, every laugh, every brave moment at the lectern reminded us why Toastmasters matters. We grow together. We cheer for each other. We become better versions of ourselves — one speech at a time.
