Accredited by FCIS and SACS, the Vanguard School is a private, co-educational, boarding and day school.

What does it take to build a country? 🌎 Ms. Balliett challenged our American Government students to explore that question by designing their own governments, creating laws and leadership structures, developing economies and infrastructure, and considering the rights and needs of their citizens. They even designed their own flags! 🚩

This hands-on project brought government to life and encouraged students to think critically about how communities are organized, governed, and protected.

And they're not done yet! 🔍 At the end of the year, they’ll do it all again, giving us a chance to see how their thinking and understanding have grown.🙌

💵 Mr. Gray’s students are stepping into the role of a money manager and making decisions about how to spend, save, and prioritize their money! 💵

With a monthly budget worksheet, they’re practicing how to:

🤑 Plan their income
🏠 Cover their needs
😁 Budget for their wants
👌 Set money aside for savings
🧠 Make smart financial choices

They discovered that budgeting is about making choices, setting goals, and taking charge of their future! 🙌

📸 Picture Day is this Friday, September 4! 📸

😄 We’re excited to welcome a new photography company this year, Strawbridge Studios.

‼️Parents/Guardians! A few things to know:

👕 Students are expected to wear their Vanguard school polo.
📦 Photo packages will be available for purchase online and mailed directly to your home by Strawbridge Studios.
📧 After picture day, watch for an email from Strawbridge Studios with information on how to order your student’s photos.

If your student is absent on Friday, don’t worry! A makeup picture day will be announced at a later time.

In Ms. Candela’s art class, students explored self-portraits as a way to express their individuality. 🎨

After watching a video that visually demonstrated how to create facial features, students used traceable templates and a variety of colorful art materials to bring their ideas to life.

They had the creative freedom to choose their materials and thoughtfully consider how their portraits could best represent themselves. They brainstormed and shared ideas with one another while Ms. Candela guided and supported them throughout the process!🌈🖌️

☺️ 🐾 We kicked off the year with student orientation and a whole lot of energy, creativity, teamwork, and fun!

From collaborative art and garden work to group games, growth mindset discussions, social emotional learning activities, and conversations about communication and conflict resolution, our students jumped right in! 🎨🌱
