Friday is for Family Fridays!

Each month we come together with other families for fellowship, science, fun, and hands on learning!

Writing Starts Before the Pencil!

When we think about preparing our children to write, we often think about tracing letters and practicing their name. Pre-writing skills begin through play!

Gluing, painting, sensory play, and playing with play dough are all helping children develop the skills they will eventually use to write.

These simple activities are doing big work behind the scenes.

Before children can form letters they need opportunities to squeeze, pinch, grasp, twist, push, pull, and create.

So let them play. Let them get messy. Let them explore.

Sometimes the best preparation for writing doesn’t look like writing at all.

One thing that has been essential to keeping my homeschool day flowing smoothly is preparation. After breakfast I prep lunch and after lunch I prep dinner. This morning I cut fresh corn of the cob. It made lunch time cooking easier and I didn’t have to scramble to figure out what was for lunch.

That leads me to the second thing I do to prepare for weekly meals, I create a menu. Once you try meal planning with a menu I think you will love it and see how much time and money it can save you.

Happy Monday!

October is Fire Safety Month and to kickoff fire safety month we enjoyed a fun filled and educational trip to the Homewood Fire Department!

The children were able to explore a Firetuck, learn about the fire triangle, how to stop a wound from bleeding and what to do if there was a fire in their home.

We were all amazed by the control burn and learned which types of materials burn faster.

This month I encourage you to talk with your children about fire safety and develop a safety plan for your family.

Fall lunch inspiration!

I’m always excited about new ways to make lunch fun for my little beans. While grocery shopping I found the cutest cheese raviolis shaped like pumpkins and leaves. We selected the pumpkins this week!

What a beautiful fall day to explore the apple orchard with friends old and new!

We learned about pollination, apples, and how apple c***r is made. The children also enjoyed exploring the children’s farm!

Fall is in the air 🍂 My little bean was so excited to pick a pumpkin from our neighbors garden. We decided to roast the pumpkin and make pumpkin cookies. This was a long process but such a great learning experience.

We are looking forward to many more yummy recipes this fall.🍁

What an incredible day of learning at Fair Oaks Farms!

We are so grateful to Indiana Pork for sponsoring this amazing educational experience for our Little Bean Learning students. Our learners had the opportunity to explore the farm, learn about pigs and how they are raised, and gain a deeper understanding of agriculture and food production.

A special thank you to our tour guide, Brenden, who was patient, engaging, and thoughtful in answering the many questions our curious students had throughout the day. His enthusiasm helped make this experience both educational and memorable.

At Little Bean Learning, we believe that some of the best learning happens through hands-on experiences and real-world connections. We are thankful for Indiana Pork who helped make these opportunities possible for our children and families.
