Can You Imagine ...
..a school that employs a rigorous curriculum to foster logical thinking in its pupils rather than scrambling to get students ready for a test?
..a school where students genuinely say thank you to their teachers and express sincere kindness to their peers because they love to do right? Where manners matter and hard work is expected?
..a school where children read and unde

rstand the Constitution and Declaration of Independence? Where history is taught daily from first source documents and not from secondary source textbooks?

…a content-rich, coherent liberal arts curriculum delivered by kindhearted, subject matter experts who love what they teach?
..a school where students read great works of literature in their entirety, rather than excerpts or from textbooks?
..a school where virtue is taught and modeled throughout each subject rather than a separate program?
..a school whose methods have a profound 2,500 year track record, so the curriculum won’t change year to year causing confusion and wasted resources?
..a school free from state and national exams and standards where students are educated for the purpose of living a successful life not the ability to pass a test?
..a school that teaches students Latin from elementary school through high school, giving them a firm grasp on the English language?
..a school that runs like a successful entrepreneurial business...where each investment and decision is analyzed and weighed for the success of the students? Lafayette Academy is that school. Founder Katy McKinney would be happy to talk with you. Visit our website: www.lafayetteacademy.org. Please send an email to [email protected] we will be in touch with you.

When students study Latin, they learn to construct sentences with precision and a proper understanding of grammar. Through studying Latin roots and vocabulary, students also strengthen their English vocabulary and develop a deeper understanding of the structure of language. This intentional study of language is one of the many things that sets a classical education at Lafayette Classical Academy apart, equipping students with a deeper appreciation for the beauty, order, and precision of language.

An integral part of a Lafayette Classical education is the use of timelines. Through studying a world timeline and creating their own, students develop a deeper understanding of the chronology of historical events and the connections between them. By placing people, ideas, and events within their proper historical context, students gain a richer perspective on the unfolding story of history.

NEW EPISODE!

In this episode of the LadyK Podcast, Katy McKinney, LCA's Founder and Head of School, shares three stories from the school's own families. A seventh grader who came in behind and disengaged, and graduated having found that she loved the subject she liked least. A boy who used to dread getting out of bed for school, and now points to his recitations as the reason he can walk into an interview and speak. And a second grader who ended up in open water, where the word that broke through her panic — fortitude — was one of the four cardinal virtues her class had been practicing all year. Her mother wrote to Katy afterward: if it had not been for Lafayette, neither my daughter nor I could be writing this.
