What a blast! For Field Day, Lafayette students were divided into their houses—Antigone, Penelope, Hector, and Aeneas—each named in honor of great characters from classical literature. Students competed in a variety of events, including arm wrestling, jump rope, tennis ball throwing, U.S. geography, math facts, Shakespeare recitations, and more.

After a day of spirited competition, teamwork, and house pride, the House of Antigone emerged victorious! What a fun way to celebrate the end of another wonderful school year and kick off summer break.

Our graduation keynote speaker, Mr. David Boatright, shared an inspiring message rooted in regenerative farming. He explained that healthy soil is the foundation of a thriving farm, nourishing the plants, animals, and people who are fed from it. In the same way, a rich education cultivates young minds, preparing students to flourish and contribute to their communities.

We are grateful to Mr. Boatright for his thoughtful address and for encouraging our graduates as they begin the next chapter of their lives!

Congratulations to our newest Lafayette Academy graduates!

After completing four productive years of engaging study, these graduates have grown as individuals, developed their ideas, and begun the lifelong process of forming themselves along the way. Their strong leadership has been a guiding light for the younger students at Lafayette Academy. We are confident that the strong roots they have developed during their high school years will allow them to flourish and blossom into confident, virtuous, and contributing members of society.

From McPherson College in Kansas to Lindenwood University here in St. Louis, Lafayette Academy is proud to send these young adults into the world. We look forward to seeing all that they will accomplish in the years ahead!

Every year, Lafayette Academy celebrates its middle schoolers as they graduate into high school during 8th Grade Recognition. Students prepare and present speeches for their friends, family, and the Lafayette community, reflecting on what they have gained from their experience at Lafayette Academy. The Lafayette community is incredibly proud of these students as they take this important step into high school!

The first and second graders dressed up as pioneers to tie up their history unit on the American West. From practicing their handwriting with quill and ink to using paint to decorate their projects, history came alive for these elementary scholars!

An important part of our history program is the use of timelines which allow students to visualize the organization of events during specific times in history. This specific timeline from our Fourth Grade class focuses on American history. Through portrait depictions, letter samples, and more history comes alive as students are immersed in the world of colonial America.

Through expert instruction, Lafayette Academy elementary students learn the sounds of letters and letter combinations, known as phonograms. This approach helps students begin reading sooner, sound out unfamiliar words with confidence, and recognize patterns that support reading fluency and comprehension.

At Lafayette Academy, students study history as a continuous story of the Western tradition. Beginning with the earliest civilizations and continuing through the rise and fall of empires to the end of the Soviet Union and beyond, students gain a deep understanding of the people, events, and ideas that have shaped our world. Each grade level focuses on a specific historical period, building a strong foundation that is expanded upon and deepened in subsequent years.

One of the many figures students encounter is Winston Churchill, whose steadfast leadership during World War II inspired a nation to persevere through extraordinary challenges. His famous reminder to “never, never, never give up” continues to illustrate the importance of courage, resilience, and conviction in the face of adversity.
