One of my favorite parts of teaching is getting to meet students exactly where they are and helping them discover what their voice is capable of. Every singer brings a unique story, perspective, and sound into the studio, and I am so excited to be part of Sophie’s musical journey.

At Vocally Owned, we focus on building confidence, healthy vocal technique, performance skills, and most importantly—helping students find joy in using their voice. Whether a student dreams of performing on stage, auditioning for a show, recording music, or simply singing because they love it, there is a place for them here.

Our friends at The Salvation Army in O'Fallon have officially announced auditions for The Magician's Nephew—the enchanting prequel to The Chronicles of Narnia—and there are lots of opportunities for children and youth to get involved!

What makes this production especially exciting is the incredible team behind it. This show is being brought to life by a powerhouse group of directors, designers, costumers, and creative minds who are passionate about helping young performers grow both on and off the stage.

Theatre was such a gift in my own life growing up, and I love seeing local organizations create spaces where kids can build confidence, make friends, develop life skills, and discover their creative voice.

If your child is planning to audition and would like a little extra support, I have a few one-on-one coaching spots available through Vocally Owned to help with audition preparation, character work, confidence building, and performance skills.

Introducing THE MAGICIAN’S NEPHEW! This whimsical play is the prequel to The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. It is witty, funny, and full of magical characters. We hope you will join us in bringing this show to life in the fall!

Thanks to a set of magic rings created by his uncle, young Digory and his friend Polly set off on a series of fantastical adventures through enchanted lands. While attempting to acquire a healing apple for Digory's sick mother, they awaken Queen Jadis from a spell and accidentally bring evil into Narnia, the new world which the great lion Aslan sings into existence. In this mystical place of talking animals, good must battle against evil and a great and powerful legend begins.

Discover how Narnia came to be in this unforgettable tale of human spirit, fantasy and suspense.

One of my favorite parts of a student’s very first lesson is getting to know them before we ever worry about technique.

At Vocally Owned, first lessons often begin with sensory games, creative activities, and a little play. While we warm up to one another, students share the songs I asked them to bring as “homework” so I can learn about their musical interests, favorite artists, and what inspires them. It helps me build lessons around who they already are rather than forcing them into a one-size-fits-all curriculum.

Cora came ready to share her love of music—and her competitive side! 😆 Between singing “Billie Jean” at the top of her lungs and absolutely crushing me at Mancala, she made quite the first impression.

These moments of connection matter. When students feel safe, seen, and comfortable, confidence naturally follows—and that’s where the real learning begins.

This summer, I’m hosting a 2-day Fine Arts Camp through Vocally Owned Fine Arts Academy for creative kids ages 10–16 who love music, storytelling, performing, songwriting, self-expression, and learning to use their voice with confidence.

Over two days, students will:
🎤 Learn vocal warmups
🎶 Perform songs together as a group
🎸 Explore beginner guitar & songwriting
🖤 Build confidence in a supportive environment
✨ Have meaningful conversations about emotions, creativity, and expression through music

Every week, I get to watch these beautiful kiddos build confidence, creativity, emotional expression, and connection through music and movement.

When we dance with scarves, we’re not just “playing” — we’re developing coordination, rhythm, body awareness, self-expression, bilateral brain integration, and nervous system regulation. 🌈

When we explore a variety of instruments, students are learning:

🤝 collaboration
💫 confidence in creative expression

And through the fundamentals of music theory, they begin understanding the language of music itself — learning pitch, tempo, dynamics, counting, melody, and how music can tell a story and evoke emotion.

One of my favorite parts of teaching is watching children let go of perfection and fully step into play, imagination, movement, and authentic self-expression. That kind of freedom is powerful. 🤍

This offering is perfect for students who:
• Thrive with a consistent rhythm, but don’t need weekly sessions
• Are balancing multiple activities
• Want focused, intentional growth in voice, beginner guitar, or acting

At Vocally Owned, every lesson is student-led, confidence-centered, and creatively driven—we follow your child’s voice, interests, and natural expression.
