At **Crane Brook Academics**, we believe school can be rigorous without being rigid. Students can learn while moving, creating, experimenting, collaborating, laughing, and sometimes even sitting on a beanbag instead of behind a desk.

We're small on purpose.

That means our teachers know their students. Our staff knows our families. When something isn't working, we notice. When a student needs more support, we adjust. And when they're ready for more, we challenge them.

Around here, school might look like hands-on science one day, a fiercely competitive math game the next, breakfast together before testing, or taking a minute to move and reset when sitting still just isn't working.

It doesn't always look like traditional school.

✂️🖍️ **Testing is DONE… back to cutting and gluing we go!** 😂🙌

After a week of quiet rooms, computer screens, and lots of serious concentration, our classrooms are finally getting back to their regularly scheduled programming:

Scissors everywhere. ✂️
Glue sticks rolling around.
Paper scraps on the floor.
Kids moving, creating, talking, and learning. 💛

And we wouldn’t have it any other way.

There’s something pretty wonderful about seeing a classroom come back to life after testing week. 🩵

🧇🍳 **Testing mornings look a little different at Crane Brook Academics.** 💛

Before the pencils hit the paper and testing begins, **we slow things down.**

There are no regular classes that first hour. Instead, our students get time to eat a hot breakfast, hang out with their friends, laugh, relax, and settle in before testing starts.

It’s truly a team effort. ❤️ Our staff works together, our parents pitch in, and everyone has the same goal: **send our kids into testing feeling full, calm, supported, and ready.**

And once testing starts? We still remember that **kids are kids — and every child tests a little differently.**

Need to stretch? Stretch.
Need to stand instead of sit? Go for it.
Need a little movement to keep your brain focused? Absolutely.

And if that means **dancing beside your chair while you work… well, that’s an acceptable testing procedure around here too.** 😂💃

Because doing your best doesn’t have to look exactly the same for every student.

Full bellies. 🥞
Calm minds. 🧠
A few laughs. 😂
Maybe a few dance moves. 💃
Then we tackle the test. ✏️💪

We want our students to do their best, but more importantly, we want them to feel **safe, supported, and comfortable being themselves while they do it.**

We’re incredibly thankful for the staff and parents who help make mornings like these possible.

**They may be here to take a test, but they’re our kids before they’re ever a score.** 💛🩵

📚✨ NWEA MAP TESTING WEEK IS HERE! ✨📚

This week, our students will be completing their NWEA MAP testing. Please help us set them up for success by making sure they get a good night’s sleep, eat a good breakfast, arrive on time, and come ready to do their best! 💪🧠

Testing gives us valuable information about where each student is starting the year and helps us plan instruction to meet their individual needs. We want our students to simply take their time, try their best, and show us what they know! 💙💛

✨ WEEK IN REVIEW AT CRANE BROOK! ✨

Another week in the books, and this one had a little bit of everything! 💙🪽

🕷️ Self-Regulation — Spider-Man Style!
Sometimes our brains and bodies need a reset! Our students worked on self-regulation through Spider-Man yoga—stretching, moving, focusing, and finding a little calm while having a LOT of fun. 🧘‍♀️🕸️

🧪 Science You Can SEE!
Our young scientists explored water condensation with hands-on experiments, watching the water cycle come to life right in front of them. 💧☀️

🫧 SLIME TIME!
Because some of the best learning is messy! Students mixed, measured, experimented, and created their very own slime. Science + sensory fun = a pretty fantastic combination.

🖋️ Tattoo Fun Friday!
And apparently Crane Brook has some VERY serious ink collectors! 😂 Our temporary tattoo station was a huge hit, with students showing off everything from tiny designs to full-on collections. There were smiles, laughs, and plenty of “Look at mine!” moments all around.

😂 And, of course… outdoor shenanigans!
Because school should also include fresh air, playground adventures, upside-down students, laughter, friendships, and plenty of opportunities to just be a kid.

These are the moments we love most—the ones where students are learning, experimenting, moving, laughing, creating, and connecting.

At Crane Brook, education doesn’t always look like sitting behind a desk…and we wouldn’t have it any other way. 💙

📚✏️ **Learning is better together!**

Ms. Piper’s 1st–3rd graders were hard at work today practicing their sentence-building skills! Instead of simply filling out a worksheet, students worked together to build sentences, identify words, and put their ideas on paper.

We love seeing our students talking, thinking, helping one another, and learning along the way. These are the moments when a classroom becomes a little community. 💛

At Crane Brook Academics, learning doesn’t always mean sitting quietly at a desk — sometimes it means gathering around the table, moving pieces around, sharing ideas, and figuring it out **together.** 🪽
