Last Friday, October 2nd, our 4th graders stepped right into the pages of A Land Remembered! 🤠🌴📖

Our A Land Remembered Hoedown was designed to celebrate and solidify everything we’ve learned from the novel through four immersive stations that brought Florida history and the story to life.

🐎 Real Cowboys: Students met real cowboys—and their horses and dogs! They had the chance to pet and feed the animals, hear the crack of real cow whips, and ask questions about cowboy life.

💃 Square Dancing: Just like the characters in the novel, students learned some square-dancing moves and experienced a little of the fun and community described in the story.

🌿 Seminole Poem Escape Room: Students worked together to complete reading and poetry challenges inspired by the Seminoles and the Florida history woven throughout the novel.

🍗 Punta Rassa Café: We recreated the café experience from the book and let students actually taste the meal they read about—including fried chicken, apple pie, and even a tiny taste of black coffee!

Our students didn’t just read about old Florida—they experienced it. What a memorable way to celebrate our learning and a novel that has brought Florida history to life! 🌴🐄📚
