Fun Friday!

Kindergarten Thankful Party + Sandy Sunfish Craft

Our K+ class and friends had the sweetest day with Sandy Sunfish at her special T‑Party —
and remember, the “T” stood for THANKFUL!After learning 1 Thessalonians 5:18, “Give thanks in everything,” our little ones created their very own Sandy Sunfish crafts. Each one filled with color, creativity, and thankful hearts.
We love watching our students grow in joy, creativity, and gratitude! A special thank you to our leaders Hadassa and Josue—great job in helping out our K+ friends.

Fun Friday at The Owls’ Nest was pure outdoor magic — sunshine, sweet treats, and imaginations soaring in the open air.

Our Dunkin runs kicked off the morning with happy energy, picnic blankets covered the yard as little ones shared snacks and stories, and airplane forts popped up across the lawn as the kids crafted and launched their own paper planes into the blue sky.

Principal Torres got so caught up helping with the airplane fort that she completely missed taking pictures — but the laughter, teamwork, and joy were unforgettable.

A day filled with creativity, community, and childhood wonder — exactly what Fridays at Nest are made of.

Recap Wednesday’s Chapel

Wednesday’s chapel overflowed with life. Students jumped, worshipped, and praised the Lord with a freedom that can only come from the Holy Spirit. Their joy was contagious — and the teachers didn’t stay behind. The entire room became one voice, one body, one family lifting up the name of Jesus.

In the middle of that atmosphere, Principal Luzmari Torres brought a Word of encouragement that carried both laughter and comfort. It reminded everyone that God meets us right where we are — in our classrooms, in our challenges, and in our praise. The message strengthened hearts and brought a sense of unity that lingered even after chapel ended.

We cultivate encounters with Jesus Christ. Chapel is not a routine; it is a place where students learn to worship, where teachers model faith, and where God speaks.

“At Oasis Adonai Academy, our mission goes beyond academics. We are here because God has entrusted us with the privilege of guiding students toward the most important decision of their lives coming to Jesus Christ. Every day is an opportunity to sow seeds of faith, to speak life, and to point them to the Savior who loves them. This is why we exist: to educate, yes—but above all, to lead hearts to Him.”

The students are working diligently back in the nest, fully engaged and committed to their studies. It’s inspiring to see how quickly they’ve embraced the rhythm of full school mode — even our new students have adapted with confidence and enthusiasm. Their focus, discipline, and eagerness to learn are a true reflection of the excellence we cultivate here at Oasis Adonai Academy.

It’s important to teach each generation about Cultural Diversity:

Some words carry different meanings depending on cultural context. In some communities, terms like “my na” are used among friends as expressions of solidarity or belonging. However, outside that context — especially in diverse or public settings — the same word can be harmful or racist because of its historical connection to oppression. Understanding the difference between cultural IN-GROUP language and racism helps us communicate respectfully and responsibly.

EXAMPLE
1. Cultural Diversity Language (“my na” among friends)

• In‑group language —communities use the term as a reclaimed expression of solidarity, closeness, or shared cultural identity.
• Context matters — When used within the same cultural group, it can function like slang that expresses friendship or familiarity.
• Intent matters — The meaning comes from how it’s used: tone, relationship, and shared understanding.

2. Why it’s NOT automatically racism

• Reclaimed language — Some communities reclaim harmful words to strip them of their power and redefine them.

• Internal cultural norms — Groups often have internal rules about who can use certain terms and why.

🚫 When it does become racism:

Harmful intent — If the word is used to insult, stereotype, or demean, it becomes racist regardless of who says it.

First Day of School

Today was a beautiful beginning. Our Owls flew into the nest with courage, curiosity, and bright expectation. As they stepped through the doors, you could feel the joy of new friendships forming and the comfort of a community ready to embrace them. God’s grace covered every moment — from the first smile to the last goodbye — reminding us that He is already at work in their hearts and minds. What happened today wasn’t just a first day; it was the start of a year filled with promise, growth, and His faithful guidance.
