2018 was an incredible year for myself and much of the fire service. The inaugural year of RFT was incredible and a game changer for how many players in the fire service began to 1. Embrace the target. 2. Break with traditional training models. 3. Remove barriers from the notion of having to ask permission to do what was right for the citizens we took an oath to protect. At the end of day one, conference once, we learned we are not alone
Wilbur Curt Isakson, our inaugural keynote lecturer, and the Lake Area Firefighters, Local 3987 were the initial investors in the conference in an effort to bring collaboration and community to the Lake of the Ozarks firefighters.
Over the years, One Warrior LLC teamed up with the Lake Area Fools, the Fire Fighters Association of Missouri, and countless sponsors and vendors to bring current, evidence based training to “The Lake.” What came of this was world wide relationships that will be in Elizabeth and my hearts forever.
We truly created something different that is often imitated, but can never be duplicated. We put something special into the conference….Our Lord Jesus Christ who gets all credit and glory.
As Elizabeth and I look to the future, our goal is to never short change a student and to assure our high standards are exceeded. Our lives are complex and as dynamic as the world we live in. Elizabeth is finishing her Nurse Practitioner school while I am halfway through the Executive Fire Offer program. Our children are now 11 and 17 and we have faced many challenges. As stated in point one….Embrase the target.
Our decision for 2025 has not been an easy one, but we both feel it is what is right for the conference quality, and our lives in this season in life.
We will be purposely placing a pause in 2025 and plan to focus on our family and our careers to assure our home is square and our family is healthy. The goal is to come back in 2026 with an amazing lineup and the same high quality experience that our standards demand. 
This is not the end, this is a purposeful pause in 2025 to assure our priorities are correct and our product NEVER suffers as we balance life and other adaptive challenges.
Thank you all for your love, encouragement, support, and commitment to making the conference successful and doing the best you can for the American fire service AND the citizens we promised we would protect.
