Regardless of who wins the Presidential election tonight, tomorrow all our children go back to school. Kids pick up our energy, our joys, our sorrow and our fears. They act out our anxiety and look to us for guidance and modeling. We must use this time to teach our children about respect, kindness and character. If you are feeling anxiety or fear, take the time to talk to your children, ask them to treat others how they wish to be treated. Remind them that words matter. Dr. Martin Luther King asked those involved in the struggle for justice to be the thermostat in the room, not the thermometer. Ask your children to rise above any noise and abusive talk at school, teach them to set the temperature. .
