🍎 Meet Our Teacher: Françoise Coulon-Lantz 🇫🇷

Originally from Grenoble, France, Françoise has been inspiring students at ILA since 2023. She teaches 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade French Immersion and loves bringing learning to life through interdisciplinary projects that connect subjects in meaningful ways.

When asked what she hopes students remember long after leaving her classroom, Françoise shared:

“Making mistakes is part of the learning process. Asking for help is a strength, helping others is a strength, and everyone has or should have a voice.”

A fun fact her students might not know? At just 16 years old, she climbed Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Western Europe, with her parents!

And if she could take her class on a field trip anywhere in the world? She would start with the beautiful Oregon Coast, then head across the ocean to Paris and Grenoble to share the places that shaped her own journey.

We are grateful to have such a thoughtful, adventurous, and caring educator as part of the ILA community. 💙

Off to French Camp! 🌲🛶🇫🇷

This week, our students have departed for Canoe Island, an unforgettable adventure filled with nature, friendship, and French immersion. Surrounded by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, they will spend their days exploring the outdoors, building confidence, strengthening connections, and living the French language beyond the classroom.

This annual tradition is so much more than a field trip—it’s an opportunity for students to grow independently, create lifelong memories, and celebrate the vibrant francophone culture that brings our community together.

As we begin the journey into summer, we wish all of our campers a week full of discovery, laughter, and adventure. Bon voyage et amusez-vous bien! ☀️🌿
