“Honoring Local Patriots by Exploring Careers in Public Safety” will be held on Monday, September 14 at LOHS! Representatives from the Oakland County Sheriff’s dispatch, patrol and K9 departments, the Lake Orion Fire department, MI Department of Natural Resources, and Oakland Community College’s Police, Fire and Paramedic/EMT academies will host tables highlighting future career opportunities, educational pathways, and certifications, as well as share the intricacies of daily life in their field of employment. Be sure to stop by the tables in Extended Learning Space A to thank a local hero!

Today marks 25 years since 9/11. In honor and remembrance of that day, LOHS wore their red, white, and blue as part of LO Lotto.

Additionally, at 4 p.m., soon after the Orion Township Fire Department displays the American flag above Lapeer Road, Orion Township invites the community to the Orion Veterans Memorial for a special opportunity to hear from Lt. Col. Air Force Retired Cynthia Hale, who was serving as President George W. Bush’s personal nurse on September 11, 2001, and with President Bush throughout that day. Lt. Col. Hale will share her account of the events and her experience in the hours that followed; a question-and-answer session will follow her presentation.

Lastly, the official Patriot Day Ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. at the Orion Veterans Memorial.

Troupe 2898’s summer production of Pride and Prejudice opens this week! Audiences have three opportunities to see the show in the LOHS Performing Arts Center: Thursday, September 10; Friday, September 11; and Saturday, September 12. All performances begin at 7 pm; doors open at 6:30 pm. Tickets are on sale at the door for $5.
