🧸 play
In the 0-18 month age group, we focus on the following areas: instrument exploration, social connection/engagement, floor time, gross and fine motor skill development, vocal exploration, and vocabulary development (beginning with receptive vocabulary, then expressive).
Music: our curriculum encourages children and their families to explore new instruments, practice new and familiar songs, learn early music concepts, and explore their voices.
Movement: We believe in building strong bodies and brains from the ground up, so we focus heavily on floor time in this class. We practice new movements/ motor skills for both pre-walkers and walkers!
Language: for this age group, our focus is primarily on adults modeling age appropriate language without demands for the children to verbalize, as they often do so when they are ready! Our classes are filled with engaging songs and activities, which often lead to singing, dancing and speaking. Our classes are for children at every stage of speech and language development and we honor ALL forms of communication!
Strategies for speech and language elicitation are taught to parents and implemented in classes.
Bonding and social engagement: This is a great one-on-one bonding time with your little one. If your child hasn’t interacted in a small group with other children their age before, this is a gentle introduction for them.
Play: We use cause-and-effect toys and items that stimulate babies visual, tactile, and auditory senses. We focus on early turn taking games and shared enjoyment in play.
Lastly, we believe that parent training and empowerment is a necessary component in all of our classes. We hope that every parent / caregiver leaves our 6-week classes with skills that they can confidently use at home with their little ones.
