Markham Woods Middle School Chorus

As we approach the end of the school year, I want to recognize the incredible hard work of our students at the Farewell Concert on May 14th! Each choir performed so beautifully and our 8th grade soloists and groups FINALLY had their moment to shine!

Give Us Hope was next level awesome, as it is almost every year as our alumni group continues to grow. The song has come to represent a rite of passage for our eighth grade students as they join the ranks of the alumni up onstage with our current students. It is definitely one of the coolest things we do. ❤️

A special shout out to Michelle Smith (Heathrow Elementary School), Rodolfo del Hoyo (Crystal Lake Elementary School), and Andrew Toth (Woodlands Elementary School) for being our percussionists and special guests for the evening. We love you, elementary music teachers!

AN UNFORGETTABLE DAY! Black and Silver takes home a Superior and first place in the choral division at Music in the Parks with a score of 96.25! Super proud of all our kids for their hard work in the classroom and for being thoughtful, sensitive musicians who leave their best work out on the stage. ❤️🖤🩶 Way to go, Mustangs!

Major kudos to our Black and Silver Singers members who performed at the The Lake Mary Heathrow Festival of the Arts! We were down a lot of singers as many of them were at the SCPS County Math Festival, but our crew sounded fantastic. ❤️ Way to represent, everyone!

Yesterday, our Mustangs got a taste of the true college experience! Our friends over at UCF Music hosted the Black and Silver Singers for a collegiate choral rehearsal with the University Singers, a campus tour led by two amazing BME students (shout out to Izzy and Dominic!), and then we sang the National Anthem at the Men’s Basketball game vs. TCU.

A special thank you to Dr. Kelly Miller and Dr. Jeffery Redding for hosting us and teaching my kiddos! They had an unforgettable day, and I think you may have some future Knights in this bunch!

The Black and Silver Singers (and some extra invited guests from Treble Choir!) sang the Star-Spangled Banner at Opening Day for Lake Mary Little League tonight! We are so very proud of you! ❤️🖤
