FREE SECURITY WEBINAR -- Use storytelling to secure a top job!

Have you ever considered how powerful words and stories are?

Narrative marketing is all about this – it is predicated on how stories can increase engagement and build an emotional connection with people. It’s something that security sector job seekers can use too.

Neuroeconomics pioneer Paul Zak discovered that stories that elicit strong emotional responses trigger the release of oxytocin, a hormone that enhances the sense of empathy.

This empathy can influence decision-making and increase trust and loyalty towards a brand or individual. We have developed a formula that harnesses the power of narrative marketing and storytelling to help security professionals advance their career and secure top jobs.

Join our upcoming webinar and we’ll show you some of these advanced techniques that will significantly enhance your success in the security sector job market.

Here’s what we’ll cover:
 The science behind narrative marketing and storytelling
 How to articulate your career journey in just 3-minutes
 How to weave your value proposition and key selling points into your career narrative
 Using case studies on your CV to double your interview rate
 Why you should be activating the Projects section on LinkedIn
 How a Career Autobiography © will help you secure a job, pay rise, or promotion
 How to use storytelling in the interview room to get more job offers

From IFPO's The Security Circle host Yolanda Hamblen:

'Perhaps we have a talent recognition problem'. This week on The Security Circle Podcast, I’m joined by Jason Stockinger, author of 'Stop Misreading Talent', for a conversation that made me think deeply about how we recognise — and misread — the people around us.

Because two people can observe exactly the same behaviour and see completely different things.

Quiet can look like disengagement.

Direct can look like difficult.

Cautious can look like lacking confidence.

Different communication can look like poor communication.

Someone who doesn't naturally promote themselves can look like they lack ambition.

And someone who doesn't fit our familiar picture of "high potential" can quietly disappear from consideration altogether.

Jason talks about those moments when somebody says, “Something feels off.”

But what if that feeling isn't telling us something about them?

What if it's telling us something about our perspective?

That’s where curiosity becomes such an important leadership skill.

“Stay curious about people long enough to discover what you're currently missing.”

Empathy doesn't mean lowering expectations. It means becoming curious enough to understand the person before deciding what they're capable of.

And sometimes that means asking:

Am I seeing this person clearly?

Have I actually asked what they need?

Am I judging their potential — or their similarity to people I've previously considered successful?

Could the behaviour I'm interpreting as a weakness actually be a strength in a different environment?

And if you’re the person who feels unseen or misunderstood, Jason has some beautifully practical advice:

“If you think you're being misread at work, find a mentor and get closer to the people doing what you want to do.”

Perhaps we don't have the talent shortage we think we have.

Perhaps we have a talent recognition problem.

IFPO UK launches Protect Card as a free Member Benefit for IFPO UK Members

The International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO UK) is pleased to announce that all eligible IFPO UK members can now access the Protect Card free of charge as a new membership benefit.

The Protect Card is the UK’s first dedicated discount and rewards programme designed specifically for security professionals,
offering thousands of savings across everyday essentials, leisure, travel and more.

Recognising and rewarding security professionals

Security professionals play a critical role in protecting people, property and information across the UK, yet they have often been overlooked by mainstream discount and reward schemes. The Protect Card has been created by security workers, for security workers, to address that gap by providing meaningful, usable
savings that recognise the contribution of the private security workforce.

Through IFPO UK’s new partnership, eligible members receive their Protect Card membership free, reflecting IFPO’s commitment to supporting frontline officers and supervisors not only through education and certification, but through tangible, everyday advantages that support their wellbeing and financial resilience.
This is in addition to the discounts on the IFPO certificate and certification programs.

What is the Protect Card?

The Protect Card is a digital-only savings and benefits platform exclusively for people working in the UK security industry. Members can browse and redeem thousands of discounts via the Protect Card website and app, using e-gift cards or unique discount codes online and in-store.

Key features include:

 Discounts across supermarkets, high street retailers, technology, home and DIY, dining and holidays.

 Halfprice cinema tickets at major chains including Cineworld, Odeon, Vue, Picturehouse, Showcase and others.

 Savings on gym memberships, days out and travel, with offers that support both everyday living and leisure time.

 Industry relevant savings such as discounted SIA training and security essentials from vetted providers.

By keeping the service fully digital, Protect Card members can access savings quickly and conveniently, with no physical card to carry.

Free for eligible IFPO UK members

Protect Card membership is now provided free of charge to current IFPO UK members working in the UK private security industry. Members do not need to hold an SIA licence to qualify, and the scheme is inclusive of a wide range of roles, including: Security officers and guards, door supervisors, CCTV operators and
mobile patrol officers.

 Event security and stewards, airport security staff, dog handlers and revenue protection personnel.

 Cyber security professionals, trainers, operations managers and other security-related support staff.

Activation takes only a few minutes via the Members’ Areas of the IFPO UK site, www.ifpo.uk

Additional benefits and extras

Alongside retail and lifestyle savings, Protect Card members also gain access to a package of additional services designed to support everyday life: Total Motor Assist – accident recovery support, free for 12 months.

 DriverSave – motoring discounts that can reduce daytoday vehicle costs.

 Total Property Assist – access to professional repair services if the home is damaged.

 Fuel Direct – discounts on fuel cards, with savings of up to 6p per litre. These added benefits further enhance the value of Protect Card membership, helping security professionals manage key household and transport expenses.

Supporting security professionals – in and out of uniform

Commenting on the launch, IFPO UK emphasised that the Protect Card aligns with its mission to support the professional development, wellbeing and recognition of protection officers and supervisors across the UK. By removing the annual fee for
eligible members, IFPO UK is ensuring that as many security professionals as possible can benefit from the savings and rewards available.

“Security professionals work tirelessly to protect people and organisations every day. Providing free access to the Protect Card is one way we can show our appreciation and help members enjoy practical savings – whether that’s on the weekly shop, a
family day out, or their own professional development,” said an IFPO UK spokesperson.

IFPO UK Membership is £40 and £20 for renewals. https://ifpo.uk/membership/
