Today the KVHS Parent and Family Center launches the virtual Bronc Family Book Club in support of the One Book One Valley community literacy initiative. Our partner, the Kern River Branch Library, is offering the Beanstack Challenge to make our book club interactive and fun. Families will be able to log their reading, track book club progress and participate in the reading challenges together. We welcome anyone within our community to participate!!

We are excited to give away 15 copies of our book club selection, Paradise by Lizzie Johnson. Currently the free copies are limited to our Bronc parents. We hope to have more soon to distribute within the community. Because copies are limited, we are holding a drawing to ensure Bronc parents have a fair chance to win. To enter, please complete this form https://forms.gle/NEiBgTSE4qvnxMiD6 by Friday, Sept. 4 at 1:00 PM. Winners will be notified by 4:00 PM Sept. 4.

Please feel free to join the book club and Beanstack Challenges, even if you aren't able to receive a free copy. Audiobooks are also a great way to participate! To sign up for the KRV Branch Library Beanstack please visit https://kernlibrary.beanstack.com or scan the QR code. If you are already signed up with Beanstack, the challenge should show up as soon as the challenge goes live this week. Otherwise, you will have to create an account and set Kern River Valley Branch Library (not Kern River Valley Bookmobile) as your "primary branch" and other info to register.

In addition, we also have limited copies of the intermediate and elementary level book selections. Please let us know on the form if you would like copies of those as well.

Thank you to everyone who took time out of your evening last night to join us for Back to School Night! We truly appreciate your engagement and the opportunity to connect with you and share more about what your child is learning, as well as the resources available to support them.

Reminder! Tonight is Back to School Night at KVHS from 5:00 - 6:30pm. This is a great opportunity for parents/guardians/caregivers to visit classrooms, meet teachers and make connections to help your child have a successful and enjoyable high school experience. See you tonight friends :)

Senior Sunrise will be on Monday, September 14, at 7:00am. It will be on the football field. Seniors we hope you will attend to kickoff a great year together as a class. Seniors Parents if you would like to help set up games or food, or donate items such as breakfast food, snacks, and drinks, or decorations, please comment on this post or email [email protected]. There aren’t any specific food or drink items in mind, just whatever you think your senior will want to eat or drink at 7:00am! There is already a list of items donated that appears on ParentSquare. If you would like to be added to that list please let Amber know as well.

We have ​about 115 seniors.

Mark your calendars— KVHS Back to School Night is Wednesday, August 26!

Kern Valley High School invites you to join us on Wednesday, August 26, from 5:00–6:30PM. Back to School Night is a great chance for parents to meet teachers, learn about what students will be studying, understand classroom expectations, and discover ways to support their child’s success. Also an opportunity to share important updates, including new programs and policies for the upcoming school year.

At 5:00 PM, parents can pick up their student’s class schedule in front of the school. From there, you’ll follow the schedule and spend a few minutes in each class. Students are welcome to join their parents too!

Amber Perfect, KVHS Family Center Specialist will be in front of the school to answer any questions and if you need info on ParentVUE and ParentSquare access.

The Class of 2028 will be selling tickets for the Kern Valley Pie Walk at the home football game tomorrow!

Sequoia Mountain Bakery has graciously donated pies for this event!

Tickets are $5. Pie Walk starts after the cheerleader performance at the Varsity half time! All funds go towards needs for Powder Puff and Prom! Help us make an unforgettable year for our Seniors! Donations are appreciated!
