Where Kids Learn 21st Century Social Skills -- For School, Home, and Life! We’re here to help your child become more confident with their place in the world. That confidence comes in part from knowing how to live and work with other people -- both of their own age and across generations. Key benefits of the Bristow Center’s approach to developing social skills include --
1. Participation in engag
ing, animated, and fun sessions led by an experienced, caring mentor.
2. Meeting and engaging with other young people.
3. Fun Practice. Hands-on activities allowing opportunities to practice in a safe space.
4. Helpful Feedback. Providing parents with frequent updates and tips on reinforcing social concepts outside the Center. Our members work through four levels over the course of the full program. Placement is based on your child's current social development, and we want everyone to grow organically at their own pace. They'll be immersed with peers and real-life scenarios to help them master key social skills as they grow. First Level: Brain Builders -- Active engagement in building self awareness, body awareness, and being able to understand and identify feelings & emotions. Second Level: Brain Chargers -- Building on the Brain Builder foundation, here we emphasize the co-existence and understanding of multiple perceptions in a social group and actively practice them in context, motives of others while building better observational skills to be able to interpret and respond utilizing both self awareness and external awareness. Third Level: Brain Solvers -- This is an ongoing evolution of refinement. The focus here is Integrating all previously learned foundational skills to become more fluid. Active problem solving techniques will be practiced, emotional management, nuances of the social world will be explored, friendships, peer groups, higher level conversations and refining active listening skills. Fourth Level: Brain Operators -- At the end of this process, our Operators will be able to independently self monitor their actions with others -- and their reactions to situations. Social skills are based on a continuum and it not only applies to children with social deficits, but also building on life skills that will create young adults with more confidence, better leadership capability and improve relationships as they prepare for college and jobs.
