There is a lot of confusion out there on what is a valid CPR class and what you need for your employer, so we put together a few Questions to Ask Before You Book a CPR Class
1. What class do I need?
If you work in a medical facility or have a license or certification such as RN, LVN, or PTA, you need a BLS or Basic Life Support course through AHA or ASHI. (American Red Cross does not offer an accepted version of this class)
If you work as a non-licensed caregiver, supervisor under OSHA regulations, work in daycare or school, or any other non-medical profession that needs a “CPR” Card, you need a CPR & First Aid Certification.
If you need information on how to do CPR and do not need a card, you can go through a non-certification program.
We offer a selection of classes that can meet your schedule and certification needs.
2. Can I just take the class online?
No. All “online-only” classes are not accepted and are generally a scam. You can complete part of a course online, but you must be evaluated in person by an instructor to receive certification.
All of our Hybrid Programs (online/in-class) meet the certification requirements and will be accepted by all employers in the area.
3. Will my employer accept this class and certification?
Many companies offer CPR certification, but reputable employers accept only two, The American Heart Association (AHA) and American Health & Safety Institute (ASHI).
The American Red Cross and other “Online” courses do not provide the same training level and are not accepted by most employers, all local hospitals, and MCC. The last thing you want to do is take the course twice, so make sure you are taking the right one.
As a training center for AHA and ASHI, we can offer a certification accepted by all local employers, hospitals, and MCC.
4. Has the instructor who will be teaching the class ever done CPR?
Did you know that you can be a CPR instructor without ever doing CPR for real? If the instructor has never done CPR or hasn’t done it recently, they don’t have the experience needed to relay the information and ensure that you are proficient. You have to do it to teach it, so make sure your instructor has experience.
All of our instructors are experienced Paramedics who currently work in the field and provide patient care. This ensures we can deliver the most accurate and up to date information and can teach you the skills to act in the event of an emergency.
5. What support do I get after the class is over?
If you don’t use it, you lose it, so make sure the program you go with offers continual support after the class is over.
When you receive your training through us, you get two years of support, training materials, and hands-on practice to help keep you ready for an incident. All you have to do is call and schedule a time, and we will go over everything again, all included in the course's price.
