Little angel, Trinity Raine Chandler 💔

Heartbreaking, 3 year old Trinity died after her mother’s boyfriend Samual Smart was left in her life despite months of CPS involvement.

She had a giggle her family adored, a giraffe named Ralphie, & she told everyone she loved them. Frozen & Baby Boss were two of Trinity’s favorite movies that she loved to watch often.

Smart was sentenced to 40 - 99 years in prison after pleading no contest to second-degree murð€r & first-degree child aßuse.
A damning Ombudsman report exposed failures in training, communication & decision-making that left this little girl unprotected. No caseworkers have been criminally charged.

How many more children must we lose before there is real accountability & change? 😠

Remembering Amandine Florès 🤍

Amandine was a bright, funny girl. Friends remembered her laugh, her energy, & the way she still found light. She was one of eight children. After her parents separated she spent time at boarding school, where people who loved her said she felt safest.

When lockdown began she had to go home. She told someone she was afraid she would not survive it. On 6 Aug 2020 she died at only 13 years old. 💔

Much of her story is only reported in French, so this is what could be confirmed. The court in Montpellier heard she had been starved & badly hurt over a long time. Reports that should have protected her were not enough. In Jan 2025 her ‘mother’ was given life in prison. Her step’father’ was given 20 years.

Her father fought for years so she would not rest in the wrong place. In Aug 2025, five years to the day, Amandine was laid to rest in Saint-Estève with her own family. He said she is their star in the sky.

Rest gently, little angel.

Justice for Ivory Lee Brogdon 💔

Ivory was only 15 months old. She was a true mumma & daddy’s girl. She seldom cried. She always wanted to be held. She had a smile for everyone who loved her.

She was just finding her independence - wanting to feed herself, getting mad if you tried to help, throwing her little hands up & walking off, then coming right back. She loved food. She loved music. Most of all she loved her big sister Kimmy. Wherever Kimmy went, Ivory was right there.

On 31 July 2026 her mother left Ivory & Kimmy with her boyfriend while she went to work. Within about an hour, Ivory was fighting to breathe. By the next day, doctors said she was gone. Court later heard she had suffered a catastrophic head injury that a small fall could not explain.

Her family kept her on life support so she could give the gift of life to others. They walked her honour walk. They said goodbye at City Church in Jacksonville. Her aunt said it best: she was just a baby. So little. So innocent. She had a whole life ahead of her.

Ivory’s mum has a warning for every parent who thinks they know the person they’re leaving their children with:
“Don’t trust so easily like I did.”

Say her name. Hold your babies closer. Speak up when something feels wrong.
Rest easy, precious girl. You were so loved. 🤍

Rest in peace, sweet Saylor Hayes. 🕊️

Saylor was just 5 years old. She was nonverbal & autistic, with a known history of wandering & a love of water. She was a Project Lifesaver client in Washington County, Virginia.

On Sunday 30 Aug her family was staying at a rental home in Hagley Estates, Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Saylor was reported missing after she wandered from the property. Hundreds of deputies, first responders & neighbours searched through the night by land, air & water.

Her body was recovered the next morning in the water near Hagley Landing. 💔

On Tuesday her parents, John Herb Hayes III & Geordyn Nichole Hayes, were arrested in Carter County, Tennessee. They have each been charged with unlawfully placing a child at risk / willfully abandoning a child. They will be extradited to Georgetown County. They are presumed innocent unless & until proven guilty.

Warrants allege Saylor was left unsupervised close to the water, that her tracking device had been left behind in Virginia, & that searchers were directed away from the water.

Saylor was a vulnerable little girl who depended on the adults around her to keep her safe. She deserved that protection. Nothing can bring her back. What we can do is remember her, speak her name, & keep fighting so other children - especially those who cannot call for help - are not left in harm’s way.

Rest peacefully, Saylor. You are loved. You are remembered. 🤍

Thank you Lana for sharing her name with me.

Remembering Roman Barreras 💔

Most reporting states Roman was 3 years old. Some memorial records list him as 2 due to uncertainty around his exact age. One thing is certain though - Roman should be alive today.

In Mar 2014, a landlord cleaning out an abandoned unit in Tucson, Arizona made a horrific discovery - the skeletal remains of a little boy hidden inside a toy box.

That child was Roman.

Authorities later said Roman died from severe malnutrition & neglect. Investigators alleged his mother, Raquel Barreras, starved him, while his father, Martin Barreras, knew about the abuse but failed to stop it.

The medical examiner also found multiple injuries that occurred before Roman died, including bumps on his skull & an unusual round depression. His bones showed signs of slowed growth, consistent with long-term starvation.

Roman’s case also revealed multiple missed warning signs.

Child Protective Services (now the Arizona Department of Child Safety) had several contacts with the Barreras family over the years. Concerns were raised about unsafe living conditions & Roman being small & thin for his age.

On Jan 10, 2014, a hotline caller reported Roman had not been seen for several months to possibly a year. For unknown reasons, the call was misclassified & never investigated.

Months later, Roman’s remains were discovered.

Roman was just a baby.
A little boy who deserved safety, love & protection.

Instead, his short life ended in unimaginable neglect.

Roman’s story is one that must never be forgotten. Say his name. Roman Barreras. Remembering Roman Barreras 🤍

Remembering Cora, Dawson & Callan Clancy.

Three little lights taken far too soon.

Cora Marie was five. Born on Christmas Eve, she loved sparkly dresses, big bows in her hair, princesses (especially Sofia the First), sloths, unicorns & tea parties. She was a girly girl who adored arts & crafts, her baby dolls, & taking care of people. She used to say she wanted to be “a doctor & a mama” when she grew up & practiced check-ups on her little brothers. She had an infectious laugh, lots of friends, & a heart that was already looking after others.

Dawson William was three. He was full of energy - rambunctious, funny, silly, & everyone’s pal. He loved firefighters, trucks, construction vehicles, “worker guys,” dinosaurs, tractors & Paw Patrol. He spoke in a raspy little voice, had bold brown eyes that beamed friendship, & a kindness that made him share his toys without being asked. He was generous beyond his years & brought smiles wherever he went.

Callan Patrick was eight months old. He was “Happy Callan” - the sweetest, easiest, smiliest baby with chunky cheeks. His nanny called him “just a love” He found his big brother & sister hilarious & his laugh was the kind you could listen to all day.

They were siblings who played in the snow, built snowmen, & filled a Duxbury home with the ordinary, beautiful noise of childhood.

Say their names. Remember who they were.
Cora. Dawson. Callan.

Rest gently, angels. 🤍🕊️🪽

Peter “Pepe” Kema Jr. (known as Peter Boy) 🤍

1 May 1991 - 1997. He was only six. He was happiest at his grandparents’ home in Kona. He had siblings. He had a name people said with love. He had a chance.

Then the state sent him back.

As a baby he already had broken bones. CPS took the children, placed them with family, then returned them to Peter Kema Sr. & Jaylin Kema anyway.

In Jan 1997 his grandparents reported a broken arm & a black eye. A supervisor told the worker not to file an official intake. That report vanished. No one was assigned.

On 4 Apr 1997 a therapist reported that Pepe’s arm was broken & that he was being badly hurt in that home. An investigator was not assigned for two & a half months! By the time anyone went to the house, Peter Boy was already gone.

Court later heard what his siblings had lived through. His arm injury was left untreated until there was an open wound. He died of septic shock. His parents pleaded guilty to manslaughter. His ‘father’ is serving 20 years. His ‘mother’ died in 2019.

For almost twenty years the official story was that he had gone to live with “family to learn Hawaiian stuff.” His body has never been recovered. 💔

His brother & sisters - Chauntelle, Allan & Lina - never stopped. They sued the state in 2018. In Aug 2026 HawaiĘťi agreed to a $3.25 million settlement & a formal apology for failing to act on the warnings.

They still honour him every May 1. Little Pepe had a loving home. They took him from it. Then they waited. Why was he sent back? Why did one report disappear? Why did the next one sit for two & a half months? Say his name. Ask the questions. Protect the next child while there is still time.

58 Years Later, Marise Finally Had Answers 🤍

On the morning of 18 Mar 1964, 9 year old Marise Ann Chiverella left her home in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, a little earlier than usual.

She was carrying canned goods as a gift for her teacher, a nun at St. Joseph’s Parochial School. Marise hoped to drop them off before Mass.

She was a quiet, sweet little girl who dreamed of becoming a nun herself one day. 🤍

But Marise never made it to school. Her body was found later that afternoon. For nearly 58 years, her family waited for answers.

Then, through DNA & genetic genealogy, investigators (with the remarkable help of 18 year old college student Eric Schubert) were finally able to identify the man responsible as James Paul Forte, who was 22 years old & living just blocks from Marise at the time.

Forte died in 1980 & was never held accountable in court. But Marise’s name was never forgotten.

She was just a little girl walking to school, carrying a gift for someone she cared about. She had a whole life ahead of her, dreams of her own, & a family who loved her.

Today, we remember Marise Ann Chiverella - her innocence, her dreams, & the decades her family spent waiting for the truth.

May she always be remembered. May her name never be forgotten. Rest peacefully, sweet Marise. 🙏

Remembering Zara Elizabeth Arnold 🕊️

Zara was only 5. She was a radiant little soul. Her mother, Tiara, who is Deaf, said her brown eyes were full of wonder & that her giggle was the kind that stayed with you. Zara signed “I love you” in ASL. She loved
school, her friends, & dressing up as a princess. “She was brave in ways small & big & endlessly loved.”

Tiara wrote that she was terrified for her daughter’s safety & asked the court to protect her from her ‘father’. He got primary custody anyway. Tiara was meant to have weekends. By the end, she said she had not seen Zara for months.

Zara’s ‘father’, Zachary Arnold, is charged with murð€r & neglect of a dependent resulting in death. Prosecutors are seeking life without parole. He has pleaded not guilty. Prosecutor Ryan Mears said Zara “suffered incredible aßuse.” His then girlfriend was also charged for failing to report what she saw.

This was not a sudden tragedy with no warning. There were years of reports to DCS & police. DCS had already substantiated aßuse when Zara was a baby. A judge later gave the father primary custody & told her mother to stop reporting concerns. Police were contacted in the days before she died & did not see her.

Zara was laid to rest on 7 Jun 2025. She should still be here. Her name deserves to be spoken. Her mother deserved to be heard.

Rest gently, little angel🪽

Edited to add: The voice in the song is NOT her father. It was meant as heaven telling Zara she is loved. A few of you have said a man’s “I love you” lands wrong on this case, & I’m sorry I’ll try do better 🙏
