I like sunsets…but the sunrise?
I’m usually not up for that. 🤷🏻♀️
Except for these weekends.
The coffee needs to be strong and brewing in the wee hours of the morning for our folks, so my alarm is set.
The hum of the chatter begins in the dining hall, people strolling in couple by couple…all in anticipation of what the day will bring.
The glimmer of the dew coming off the grass and the sound of birds chirping through the campus - so peaceful.
Computers booting up, whirring as the power points get warmed up to shed light on another concept.
A quick announcement, bodies shuffling to the teaching room…eyes open and hearts hopeful for some nuggets of wisdom.
Friday night to Sunday morning- restoration, rejuvenation.
New concepts meet old belief systems, sound on scripture, struggles shared, Holy Spirit driven.
We create the space, He heals.
We prepare the food, He nourishes.
We gather the people, He speaks through them.
It’s something that is so special it takes my breath away that we get to be part of it.
-Me, Retired Police Spouse that wished she had this kind of support when we were a young law enforcement marriage.
It’s why we do this.

Simply stunning how God moves through these weekends.

We mostly chat about our life as a Law Enforcement Marriage, and every podcast interview is different.
Different questions.
Different curiosities.
Different blind spots.
What we talk about afterward:
🚓 I’m surprised they didn’t realize that officers carry continued exhaustion, that they don’t really sleep, their hours are all over the place.
🚓 It was sweet when I saw her wipe a tear away - when she heard about the emotional heaviness the spouse carries at home.
🚓 Don’t you love making people aware of the constant adrenaline rushes/crashes officers endure? It could be as many as 8 or more per day, when the average human experiences that maybe once or twice per year.
🚓 I’m always shocked they don’t know about the nonstop overtime the officer and their families endure from understaffed departments.
🚓 Bonus! We’re always so glad to share that we are continuing .new.trails.retreat to help couples navigate the strains of the law enforcement marriage in a healthy environment for a weekend of healing, learning and growing!
PS: We have so much to say they usually have to do a two-parter 🤦🏻♀️ 🤦🏼♂️
I need my comfort stuff…you, too?
🎁Why?
🎄Why not?
The kids don’t even bat an eye 👌🏻
We’re accustomed to it, after living through 32 years of the law enforcement career, you have to learn to be flexible. 🤸
Plus: the kids are married now, with children of their own, so if we choose another day we don’t have to share with the in-laws. 😉
Bonus: Shopping and wrapping for the bulk of our gifts is done early, so we have extra time to rest when everyone else is running around like crazy people. 🧟♂️
Welcome to our life- it’s a good one…

Welcome to the Advent Series for Marriages — a gentle, hope-filled journey through the next few weeks as we prepare our hearts for Christmas.
Advent is a season of waiting,
longing, and expectant hope.
For many couples, the waiting includes more than Christmas morning…
It includes waiting for:
• healing after hard conversations
• softness after a season of tension
• clarity after confusion
• reconnection after distance
If that’s you, hear this clearly:
You are not alone, and your
marriage is not beyond hope.
This Advent, we’re walking slowly together — every few days — to reflect on how Jesus meets us right in the middle of our conflict, our disappointments, and our desire to love one another better.
No pressure to be perfect.
No pretending.
Just honest couples seeking
the One who restores.
Whether your marriage feels strong, stretched, fragile, or somewhere in between, we pray this series invites you to breathe deeper and look upward…
Because Emmanuel means God with us — with both of you, in all of this.
Stay with us as we journey through Advent with hope, healing, and the presence of Jesus guiding every step. ♥️✨
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” — John 1:5
Comment “I’m in” if you and your spouse will be walking through this Advent marriage journey with us - and, don’t forget to tag a friend who could use some hope this season.

Breathe that in…
I read this a few days ago from a post ( ) and I can’t stop thinking about it.
Rest.
During heated conversations- do we give time for rest or do our words sound like an automatic weapon.
Tasks/Chores - do we move from one to another without thought, without…rest?
We strive and run and finish…but do we rest?
I wonder if our lives and relationships would make more beautiful music, thus producing more beautiful music for others…if we rested.
How are you processing this for yourself? For your marriage?

🎃 Pumpkin spice and
everything nice?
🍁 Or has the entrance to fall brought your family to a place of chaos and contention?
🗓️ The calendar is now in a prominent position, homework is taking over your afternoon, soccer practice filling up your evenings and you all feel like you’re running at full speed?
👀 We remember that feeling!

🍔 Like the drive up window at a fast food restaurant, when they’ve
🗣️ communicated the wrong meal SEVERAL times through the crackly speaker 🔊 - and then they
FINALLY get it right. 🎉
“Ahhh- you understand, what a relief!”
Hallelujah and Amen when that happens in marriage, too!
