Pack the Park Fun Run is back for its 9th year on May 10, 2025, at Animal Acres Park in Lake Forest Park! There will be live music, a food truck, and snow cones to bring the community together after the run. Attendees will enjoy a performance by the Lago Vista Social Club band.

Last week we started a four-week unit focused on Spring. This week we'll be talking a lot about butterflies. Each class has cup of caterpillars to take care of while they move through their life cycle to being butterflies. It's very exciting!

Butterflies are seen as beautiful all around the world - everyone loves to see them out in nature and up close in artwork. The science of butterfly wings is really interesting - I love the way Smarter Every Day shares about how the beauty of butterfly wings comes in layers (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsjyWg-Lhek). And that's how beauty often works all around us - in layers. This weekend alone, three glowing examples of layered beauty from life come to mind:
1. Reading a book called the Hidden Life of Trees (fantastic) that shares how trees work together to thrive and survive in layers that we cannot fathom through scent and fungus. They have a support system that values everyone in their local tree community. It's fascinatingly beautiful.
2. Spending time with friends to celebrate a birthday with folks who come from all over the US. The layers of our friendship withstand life's many ups and downs.
3. Observing the layers of play - creating games and trying out ideas that mix nature (sticks - so many sticks) and household items, that mix ages and genders and abilities, that mix interests and world views. The layers of yelling and resting and snacking and running and climbing and bikes. It's beautiful.

Beauty comes in layers, folks. Look out for it all around you.

We are baaaaack!
Pepitas staff orientation is this week. Our theme this year is Good Inside and we’re so excited to see students at camp next week!
First day of school at Pepitas is September 5th.
