Keep it or replace it? Your backup pad might still be holding onto your abrasives just fine, but that doesn’t always mean it’s in good shape.
This one still has plenty of hook and loop grip, but take a closer look at those edges. They’re worn down enough that it’s time for a replacement.
A worn backup pad can affect how your abrasive sits on the sander and how consistently it makes contact with the surface. If you’re starting to see excessive wear around the edges, don’t wait until the hook and loop completely gives out to swap it.
Take a second to check your backup pad before your next sanding session. Would you keep using this one or replace it?
