I’ve been thinking so much lately about the incredible people who have come together over the past few months to help bring this program to life.
From building obstacles and learning tools for the arena, fixing fences, and adding gates where they were needed, to watering the plants around the barns so they survive this heat, sometimes even bringing me lunch because they notice I haven’t stopped long enough to eat, and advising with behind the scenes admin and social media. It’s all of these acts of kindness, both big and small, that have meant more to me than I can truly put into words.
One especially meaningful addition has been our wooden practice horse, Starlight Jr. She has become such a wonderful part of our program, giving students a safe and comfortable place to practice new skills before getting onto one of our horses. She supports our students every single day, and she is here because of the generosity, creativity, and hard work of our volunteer community.
People often say it takes a village, and I understand that now more than ever. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without the amazing people who have shown up, believed in this work, and helped care for all of the little details that have allowed Valkyrie’s Kindred Keep to grow.
The community I have found here is so beautiful, and I am deeply grateful for every person who has offered their time, hands, heart, encouragement, and support.
Thank you for helping me build something so very special. This program truly would not be what it is without you. 💜🐴
