🎶 Welcome to AJ’s Music Factory, Tegan!

We’re so excited to welcome Tegan as our newest ukulele student! Michael has been having such a great time teaching her and getting to know her (and all about her family cats 🐈 🐈‍⬛ Cosmo and Sushi!) as she begins her musical journey.

We’re so happy to have you, Tegan! We can’t wait to watch you grow, discover new music, and see all the fun you have along the way! 💛 And hopefully your feline companions will be a great audience for your practicing!

Over the summer, Essa worked on one of her favorite songs, “Ghost Town” by Benson Boone—and it came together beautifully! 🎹🎤

One of Essa’s favorite things about being a student of both piano and voice is putting the two together. There’s something so special about the freedom that comes from singing while accompanying yourself on piano.

Here’s a little snippet of her version… and you’ll get to hear the full song at “Boos & Brews” this October! 👻🎃 The title is GHOST town, right?!

🎤✨ As planning is already underway for the 2027 AJ’s Vocal Showcase, I found myself going down a little rabbit hole watching videos from last season’s Millennium Mix: The 2000s!

What a BLAST we had! 🎶💿 So many talented students, incredible performances, and memories made. Here’s a 1-minute recap of all the performances from the night!

And now… we’re already looking ahead! 👀🎤

In another installment of “What our students achieved over the summer,” I bring you Conner!

Conner is my give-me-a-challenge student. His desire for excellence in all he does is absolutely inspiring. This summer he took on Chopin’s “Fantasie-Impromptu.” He had the whole piece learned and almost fully memorized by his first lesson back this September.

Here’s a snippet of his hard work and dedication paying off. And for a fun added bonus - check out little Conner from back in 2019.

So proud of you, Conner. What an immense joy to watch you grow into such a fine musician.

Loving this brotherly interaction! Big brother Calvin came in for the last minutes of his little brother’s 2nd ever lesson to help us play Cyclopstritch (a game all about our piano finger numbers!) Wells was elated to get the big win over big bro! 😎 Welcome to AJ’s, Wells! We’re excited to have you join the studio. 🥳

Matthew walked in the door for his first lesson back after summer break and surprised me by having learned Kenny Dorham’s “Bossa Nova” all on his own after hearing it on TikTok!

Having a student hear something they love, track down the music, and learn it simply because they want to brings me so much joy. 🧡 It’s one of those moments when you realize that after years of lessons, practice, and learning, they’re starting to trust themselves as musicians and take ownership of their music.

So proud of you, Matthew! 🎶
