On March 2nd & 3rd, the three Lake Dallas Middle School bands performed at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluation at Krum High School. The Concert Band (Sub Non Varsity) received an Excellent rating in both their Concert and Sight Reading portions. The Symphonic Band (Non Varsity) and Honor Band (Varsity) each earned a Superior Rating (Sweepstakes Award) for their Concert and Sight Reading portions. Mrs. May and Mr. Kimmons are very proud of these students’ hard work and growth throughout the year thus far.
With every successful UIL season comes many people who deserve credit for their work with our musicians behind the scenes. We would like to thank our colleagues at Lake Dallas High school Ms. Pyle, Mr. Garza, and Mr. Kofahl for their tireless work helping to teach and guide our students. A big thank you to our supportive administration, our fantastic and dedicated private lesson staff. Thank you to our Pre UIL Judges and clinicians who helped us put a polish on our music right before the contest; Leigh Ann McClain, Jarred Carlton, Jonathan Adamo, Keith Marshall, and Benjamin Kelly. A special thank you to some of the parents who helped with uniforms, Lizzy Skousen and Louise Rudolf, and to our LDHS Booster Liaison and supersub Jennica Thompson. And lastly, thank you to the parents of each of these musicians for getting them to sectionals, clinics, and performances, and above all for insisting their kids do hard things despite the challenges.
