A fun meeting is planned for Friday at the Woman's Club of Lake City as we learn about the anatomy of a delicious brownie!
We will be putting together packages of brownie mix for our future scholarship fundraisers. Perhaps, a package is taken home and sampled during the holidays?!?
We will also be collecting items for Another Way and remembering those during the holiday season that have made the decision to get out of an abusive relationship and stay at the local women's shelter. We collect items all year long if anyone would like to donate.
We were honored last month to have Sgt. Steven Khachigan with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office who provided information about domestic violence cases in our area and what is being done to help. Sgt. Khachigan received one of our cookbooks - 150 Years of Grits, Greens and Everything in Between -- for being our guest speaker.
Please join us this Friday at 11:30 a.m. for lunch and fellowship. Call 755-0347 for more details or to RSVP for lunch.

The Woman's Club was honored to be part of the Founder's Day-Bicentennial Celebration on Saturday in downtown Lake City. We represented the decade of 1900 since the local Woman's Club was federated in 1906.
We dressed in clothing from that decade and set our booth up with important events from the early 1900's.
We played Jacks with the kids (and adults) on the ground and gave them a set of Jacks to take home to practice (and Tootsie Roll treats and popcorn) as well as a wooden glider plane since the Wright Brothers first flight was in 1903.
We met some wonderful folks who also purchased our community cookbook (150 Years of Grits, Greens and Everything in Between).
It was a great day of fellowship and unity in Columbia County. We look forward to seeing some of you at our monthly meetings on the first Friday of each month (October-May) at the historic Club House on Hernando Avenue.
Thanks to our members who helped with the event - Stephanie Bennett, Gina Busscher, Carol Feagle, Marilyn Hamm, Susan Kroh, Lisa Okuna, Kay Poltorak, Jan Smithey, Pat Roberts and Dulci Strube. A special thanks to the fellows who helped/contributed -- Gerry Poltorak, Chris Poltorak, Randy Register and Rhett Smithey.
We also want to thank Christopher Mark Esing, who inspired us to make this a day to remember!

The Woman’s Club lost a good friend and faithful member with the passing of Mrs. Wilma Odom Vann this week.
She was a Junior Woman’s Club member and served as President of the club in 1961.
She supported our Woman’s Club endeavors in maintaining and improving the historic Clubhouse through our various fundraisers including the purchase of bricks on the front porch.
We miss our “Miss Wilma” and will fondly remember her love and support of our ladies. Rest In Peace and we”ll see you again one day.
