Last week, our 4th and 5th graders put their minds—and hearts—together for a collaborative writing session! ❤️✏️

Students chose to write about Clara Barton, Helen Keller, or Anne Frank and explain how their selected woman showed a figurative “great heart.” Our 5th graders loved revisiting these familiar articles, while our 4th graders enjoyed learning about these incredible women for the first time!

After breaking down the writing process, gathering strong text evidence, and having some AMAZING discussions, students worked together to create thoughtful, informative paragraphs. The conversations, collaboration, and learning happening around the room were so much fun to watch! 📝✨

Our first graders are working hard during guided reading! 📚✨ They are building words, practicing phonics, and strengthening their reading skills through magnetic letters and hands-on word work. We are so proud of their hard work and growth! ❤️📖

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT LCES!

We are looking to spruce up our middle playground over the next month and we need help! Here are a few of the things that we would like to target: paint some of the structures; pull up all the old mulch and old w**d barrier; put down new w**d barrier and replace with all new mulch; purchase and install new shade triangles; and work on the drainage in and around the playground.
