Lake City High School is partnering with The Blood Connection to host a blood drive Friday, Sept. 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Whether this is your first time donating or you’re a regular donor, your generosity can make a real difference for patients in our community. Each blood donation can save up to three lives!

🎁 Donor Rewards: Donors will receive $30 in Donor Rewards as a token of appreciation for their lifesaving contribution.

Donors must:
• Be at least 16 years old (16-year-olds must have a signed parental consent form)
• Weigh at least 110 pounds
• Have a photo ID
• Be in generally good health

FSD3 Teachers Awarded Bonuses for Student Progress

Some Florence School District 3 teachers were recognized with bonus checks for outstanding student progress on state and district testing.

Bonus checks were awarded to K-2 teachers whose classes averaged 75% or higher Meets/Exceeds on the iReady assessment in ELA or math. Teachers in grades 3-8 also received checks if their class averages for Meet/Exceeds Expectations on the SC Ready assessment exceeded the state average. Teachers in grades 9-12 whose class exceeded the state average or higher with a C or greater on an End-of Course exam.

Superintendent Dr. Shawn Suber will organize visits to each school to congratulate each teacher.

Checks were awarded to 14 teachers throughout the district.

Teachers receiving the bonuses were:
J.C. Lynch Elementary School – Caroline Joye, Krystal Udeochu, Abbey McLean, Kristin Burgess and Sherena Bradley Brown.

Scranton Elementary STEAM Academy – Katherine McGee, Sharon Powell, Jacqueline Drost, Bethany Jackson, Sherry Morris, David Doughty and Remy Floyd Cooper.

Olanta Creative Arts and Science Magnet School – Giannti Shaw.

J. Paul Truluck Creative Arts & Science Magnet School – Andrea Atkinson.

Congratulations to these dedicated teachers and to their students for reaching these important milestones!

Five Slated for Induction into FSD3 Athletic Hall of Fame

Four former athletes and one community supporter will be inducted in the eleventh class of Florence County School District Three's Athletic Hall of Fame Friday, October 9.

Johnny ‘JR’ Cameron, Josh Harrison, Cynthia Mallette, Eddie McClam, and Brian S. McFadden will be inducted during a halftime ceremony of Lake City High School's football game against Manning at Ward Memorial Stadium.

The Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes outstanding athletes, coaches and others who contribute to athletics from current and past high schools in the district.

"This is another strong class of Hall of Fame inductees,” said Lake City High School Athletic Director Matt Apicella. “These five inductees represented FSD3 Athletics in the highest levels and we are proud to honor them.”

Any athletic alumnus, coach, or significant department advocate is eligible for nomination by an alumnus of a current or former high school in Florence County School District Three. A nominee must be at least five years removed from graduation or employment with the district. The selection committee is comprised of the FCSD3 Superintendent, Lake City High principal, athletic director, assistant athletic director and district communications director. Nominations must be submitted to the athletic director.
