💛💙2026 Manson NW FFA Trapshoot💛💙

On Saturday, September 19th, 11 SCC FFA members competed at the annual Manson NW FFA Trapshoot!

They were part of 55 contestants from 9 schools that competed in the contest and represented both the SCC FFA and SCC Trapshooting team. Each student shot 20 shots while scored.

As a team, our SCC1 team placed 3rd overall with a combined score of 54! SCC3 placed 10th with a combined score of 41! SCC2 placed 11th with a combined score of 38!

Hayden McFarland placed 4th overall with a 20, Elliott Winter placed 8th overall with a 19, Luke Buse placed 12th overall with an 18, Dane McKenna placed 22nd overall with a 16, Joe Sewick placed 30th with a 14, Grayson Gentry placed 31st with a 14, Lucas Juhl placed 39th with an 11, Braxton Mueller places 40th with an 11, Michelle Burley placed 42nd with a 10, Noah Hildreth placed 48th with an 8, and Ethan Buse placed 51st with a 7!

Congratulations to all of our students who participated and represented SCC well!

💙💛2026 Sub-District Soil Judging💙💛

Despite the rainy forecast this week, Mrs. Peterson’s Agronomy class put their skills to the test at the sub-district soil judging competition hosted by the Sac and Calhoun County Water and Soil Conservation Districts today!

The seven Agronomy students practiced judging in four different soil pits and then learned about each pit more in-depth with the conservationists after the competition was over. Events like these help students develop real-world, hands-on skills while learning about why soil quality is important!

💜🤍2026 SCC Homecoming Coronation💜🤍

As homecoming week for SCC presses on, we’d like to take a minute and congratulate all of our SCC FFA members that are involved in many sports/activities outside of the National FFA Organization! 💙💛

Our members are hard at work being dedicated to their performances across all fall activities, including football, cross country, band, dance, volleyball, student council, homecoming court and many others!

A special congratulations to our FFA members serving on the homecoming court this year: FFA President, Luke Buse; FFA Vice President, Lillie Spencer; and FFA member, Emma Scholtens!

Catch many of our FFA members in the soil pit tomorrow morning at sub-district soil judging, on the volleyball court tomorrow at 4 PM in Rockwell City, our 8th grade FFA members on the volleyball court tomorrow at 4:15 PM in Lake City, and on the football field Friday at 5 PM in Lake City! 💜🤍

Join us at the annual SCC FFA Chapter Field Night on Wednesday, September 2nd! The address for the test plot is 1035 Velvet Ave, Lake City, IA 51449.

The meal will start at 6:15 PM with a short program and a guest speaker to follow. The meal will feature a steak sandwich grilled by the Calhoun County Cattlemen's and sides/desserts provided by the SCC FFA members and their families.

Members!! - Seniors and Sophomores are to each bring a dessert. Freshmen and Juniors are to each bring a side!

Come enjoy raffle prizes from a variety of local businesses and a great meal while we celebrate the hard work of our Student Farm Manager and get ready for fall in the field!

⏰ When?: Report at 5:00 PM!
👕What to Wear?: White shirt, black pants, and tennis shoes!

You will earn community service hours by serving the event that counts towards FFA awards/Degrees/Chapter Officer positions, school awards, other awards/opportunities, and future scholarships! Feel free to bring a friend that might not be an FFA member to help serve as well!

💙💛Calhoun County Expo Ag Olympics 💛💙

If you are planning on attending the Calhoun County Expo on Thursday, July 9th, make sure to stop by the horse arena to participate in the new SCC FFA Ag Olympics!

Any Preschool through 12th-grade student is encouraged to grab a friend or two and come on down! Registration will start at 5:30 PM, with the events starting at 6:00 PM. We will create teams at registration as well, if any student wants to participate but hasn't formed a team. Prizes will be given out to the winner and participants!

💙💛2026 WHO Great Iowa Tractor Ride FFA Lunch💛💙

On Monday, June 22nd, the SCC FFA hosted lunch for Day 1 of the WHO Great Iowa Tractor Ride! As the tractors rolled in throughout the day, FFA members greeted and served hundreds of tractor riders, support staff, community members, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, and Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds.

Our FFA members did an incredible job representing the SCC FFA Chapter, the Iowa FFA Association, and the National FFA Organization. We are lucky to have such great young leaders who are committed to making a difference in our community, our school, and our state.

Thank you to everyone who supported the event, including the Calhoun County Cattlemen's, Jason Ludwig and Yetter Lock and Catering, WHO staff, Duane Murley and the Big Show, Farm Bureau Financial Services, and many others!

Tomorrow is the big day! We are excited to host and serve the tractor riders, support staff, and community members!

FFA members/volunteers, please report to the middle school in Rockwell City by 10:30 AM to be ready to serve!

We are excited to announce that the SCC FFA will be hosting lunch for Day 1 of the WHO Great Iowa Tractor Ride on Monday, June 22nd, from 11 AM - 1 PM! Community members are invited to stop by to look at the tractors and enjoy a meal as well!

FFA members and parents, we will need A TON of help setting up and serving. Help us show our appreciation for the farmers and agriculturalists who make what we do possible! All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt to wear on the day of and a meal as a thank-you. If you can, please consider volunteering to help serve!
