Governor's Program for Gifted Children

Thanks so much to McNeese Prez Dr. Nicholas for sharing some words of wisdom and encouragement with our students yesterday! We are always very grateful for McNeese’s support and hospitality every summer and the University truly becomes our home for seven weeks and stays in our hearts forever.

Yes, they also get physical exercise at GPGC!

Soccer has been a topic of particular interest this summer. In Publishing class, students created a special edition of The Thinker, their weekly student newspaper, with an entire section dedicated to the FIFA World Cup.

In addition to advanced academic and artistic studies, GPGC students get to experience an early taste of campus life, gaining confidence, perspective, and social skills that will serve them well as they make their way in the world.

Last week the students inaugurated their newly elected government representatives. With input from classmates, students write and pass bills that the faculty senate then considers. Once passed by both houses and signed by the President, an act will be in effect not only for this summer but for summers to come unless repealed by a future government. Our constitution has been in effect since it was ratified by the student body in 1967.

They're baaaaaack!

Morning classes this summer include Science, History, International Relations, Humanities, English, and Composition. Afternoon classes include Chorus, Critical Thinking, Drawing, Publishing, Mixed Musical Ensemble, and of course... Musical!
