We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Nikki Welch back to ICCS as our 4th/5th grade math teacher. With over 20 years of experience, certifications in elementary education (grades 1–5) and as a reading specialist (grades 1–12), and a Master’s +30, Mrs. Welch brings both expertise and heart to the classroom. Having previously served ICCS in multiple roles—including resource teacher, 1st grade aide, and 2nd grade teacher—she knows our community well, and we are so grateful to have her back in this important position.

Please help us give a warm welcome to our new Spanish Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year -- Teri Truitt.

Teri brings more than 20 years of experience in education serving students, families, and educators in Calcasieu Parish. Prior to joining ICCS, she served as the ESOL Coordinator, EL/ML Coordinator, and Dual Language Coordinator for Lake Charles Charter Academy, where she supported multilingual learners and their families across both campuses. In this role, she was also a member of the school's Instructional Leadership Team, collaborating with teachers and administrators to strengthen instruction and support student success.

Throughout her career, Teri has been passionate about helping all students reach their full potential while building strong relationships between schools and families. Her family, Catholic faith, commitment to service, and love for education guide both her personal and professional life.

Teri and her husband are the parents of three children: Roman, Abigail (SLCHS Class of 2022), and Zachry (SLCHS Class of 2025).

Mrs. Hart's duck traveled all the way to Universal Studios for a close encounter with Blue, the Velociraptor!

From the looks of this photo, our ducky may have gotten a little too close—Blue seems ready to make it a snack! 😆🦖🦆

Our 8th grade class closed one chapter and begins to open another.

We are so proud of all they have accomplished during their time at ICCS. As they head off to high school, we wish them success, confidence, and God's blessings on the journey ahead.

Throughout the summer, we'll be sharing some of their personal achievements from the evening as we continue celebrating this special group of Panthers.
