It's week two of Calcasieu Reads! Each week we'll share a question to discuss as students read this summer, and we encourage you to share this experience with us!

This week, we challenge our students grab a snack to enjoy during their reading time. Whether it's cooking up some green eggs and ham to enjoy with Dr. Seuss or just grabbing a favorite snack, show us! Send us some photos via direct message or to [email protected], and we'll share them later this week. Discuss as a family what snack always makes reading more enjoyable and let us know in the comments!

This week, we challenge our students to read with an animal! Share a story with a family pet or grab your favorite stuffed animal. Send us some photos via direct message or to [email protected], and we'll share them later this week. Discuss as a family what animal would be a great reading buddy and leave it the comments below!

☀️Summer Meal Boxes☀️

Week 1 boxes will be ready for pickup on June 3rd from 8am-1pm.

If you have already registered:
✅ Go to the pickup location you selected on your registration (DeQuincy Middle, Vinton Elementary, or LeBleu Settlement)
✅ Bring an ID
✅ Be patient with our teams as we work together to provide food for kids

If you have not registered:
✅ Go to a pickup location
✅ Look for onsite registration signs
✅ Bring an ID

Reminder: all children 18 and under are eligible for free meal boxes.

If you need to edit your registration, call the School Nutrition Program offices at 337-217-4360.
