Please join us in welcoming Dr. Dehua Feng to the Department of Engineering and Computer Science (ENCS) at McNeese State University! 🎉

Dr. Feng joins McNeese as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering.

He specializes in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), compressible and high-speed flows, hypersonic propulsion, shock–boundary layer interactions, and thermal-fluid systems. His research combines advanced numerical simulations, high-performance computing, and AI-enhanced multiphysics modeling to support innovations in aerospace and energy applications.

🎓 Academic Background
• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (2022), North Carolina A&T State University
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Summa Cum Laude (2017), North Carolina A&T State University

🏆 Honors & Awards
• 1st Place, ASME FEDSM Flow Visualization Competition (2025)
• 2nd Place, AIAA Flow Visualization Showcase (2023)
• Lewis F. Moody Award, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) (2023)

He is also a Lifetime Senior Member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

🎓 New Graduate Highlight: Carson Plaisance | Class of 2026 🤍

From undergraduate research to working with industry, Carson Plaisance made the most of his time at McNeese, building the technical knowledge and hands-on experience to take the next step in his career. Reflecting on his experience, he shares:

“My experience at McNeese State University provided me with a strong foundation in chemical engineering and many opportunities to apply what I learned beyond the classroom. Through undergraduate research and opportunities to work with industry, I gained both technical knowledge and practical experience that helped prepare me for the next stage of my career. The support and experiences I received at McNeese played an important role in my growth as an engineer, and I am now continuing my education pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at Penn State University”

A 2026 Chemical Engineering graduate, Carson is continuing his academic journey at Penn State University, pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.

Congratulations, Carson, on this exciting next step! We wish you all the best as you continue to grow as an engineer and researcher. ☺️

🎓 New Graduate Highlight: Chiamaka Stephanie Onwude | Class of 2026🤍

As Chiamaka Stephanie Onwude reflects on her time in McNeese Engineering and Computer Science, she writes:

“My time in McNeese’s Engineering and Computer Science shaped me in ways that went far beyond the classroom. I learned to be a dedicated student, a thoughtful and effective leader, a dependable colleague, and a supportive friend and mentor. I’m grateful for the people and experiences that taught me those lessons, which I’ll carry into the next chapter of my life.”

A 2026 Computer Engineering graduate, Chiamaka will continue her education at the University of New Mexico, where she will pursue a Master’s in Computer Engineering.

Congratulations, Chiamaka! We’re excited to see where the next chapter takes you. We’ll miss having you around ENCS 💙

What a great afternoon at the McNeese Career Expo! 💙

It was wonderful to see so many conversations happening throughout the MREC!

A big thank you to all of our students who joined and made the Career Expo such a success. And an even bigger thank you to the 124+ companies and 300+ recruiters who took the time to be here, meet with our students, and share their career opportunities.
