Big congratulations to our McNeese Engineering and Computer Science students!🎉🎉
Dubem Akukwe, Vinisha Chaudhary, Ethan Wang, Trent Hulshoff, and Precious Adeniyi traveled to Palestine, Texas, from May 17 to 21 for the NASA LaACES balloon launch. Accompanied by their project mentor, Dr. Bei Xie, the team successfully launched their balloon payload, analyzed the environmental data, and delivered their final presentation.
Through their project, "Development of LaACES Balloon Payload for Air Quality Study," these students gained true hands-on experience with circuit design, programming, project management, and data analysis. This year's goal was to design a payload with an ozone sensor to measure the light intensity of Earth's atmosphere, alongside tracking temperature and humidity.
We are incredibly proud of their hard work and successful launch! 💛

Graduate Student Spotlight:
Congratulations to Maniratna Subedi, who just graduated this May with his Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering!
During his two years here, Maniratna focused on the hands-on side of things—spending a lot of time in the labs, working with testing equipment, and tackling projects that look exactly like what he'll see in the real world. He was also a big part of American Society of Civil Engineers(ASCE), working closely with classmates and building up the confidence he needs for his career.
Reflecting on his time here, Maniratna shared:
"My graduate experience at McNeese has been incredibly meaningful. I'm so thankful for the Civil Engineering faculty who bring real field experience into the classroom. I'm especially grateful to Dr. Farid Hosseinpour for his guidance and mentorship during my research, and to Dr. Srinivasan Ambatipati for his leadership and continuous support.”
What's next?
Maniratna is moving to Pennsylvania to start working as a Structural Engineer for AI Engineers, Inc
We’re incredibly proud of you, Maniratna! Can't wait to see what you do. next.
