Honored to present at the Louisiana Educators Rising State Conference at Louisiana Christian University. I had the opportunity to speak with future educators about purpose, preparation, and the realities of the teaching profession. Encouraging to see so many young people considering careers in education.

🌸 The Meaning in the Petals 🌸
Today marks my last day in the hospital here in Houston, a chapter closed in this journey of healing. I still have miles to go before I’m back to full strength, but for now, I’m grateful to be stepping forward from this moment.
This room has been filled with more than monitors and medicine—it’s been filled with love. 💐
I’ve received flowers from my school family and family I met for the first time just yesterday—right here in Houston. They showed up with beautiful blooms and healing oil, reminding me that even in unfamiliar places, God sends comfort in familiar ways.
Flowers mean more than we give them credit for. They bloom through dirt. They stretch toward light. They brighten the darkest spaces.
And that’s exactly what this week has taught me.
Thank you to everyone who’s prayed, visited, called, and loved on me from near and far. This is just the hospital chapter but I’m claiming full recovery ahead.
🕊️ Healing is happening. Hope is blooming.

🛠️ Under Construction—but Never Without a Plan
This morning, I heard something simple yet profound:
“God is the breath. I am the blueprint.”
Whew… that sat in my spirit.
Everywhere I turn at Washington-Marion right now, there’s construction—on the north wing, on the south wing—concrete being poured, ceilings being redone, walls being reshaped. Dust, noise, detours. It’s a literal construction zone.
But none of it is random.
It all started with a blueprint—a plan drafted by architects, reviewed by contractors, and brought to life by many hands, each with a purpose.
The same goes for us.
This year, my leadership team selected a theme: “Blueprint for a Better Tomorrow.”
At first, it was just a great play on our physical state of being under construction.
But now—I realize it’s spiritual, too.
✨ Every shift, every detour, every reroute has been designed.
✨ Every teacher, every student, every leader—we are part of the blueprint.
✨ And God? God is still the breath behind it all.
Even when I rest in uncertainty, He rests in certainty.
Even when I feel overwhelmed, He reminds me the foundation is already laid.
So I’m walking into this school year knowing:
🧱 The dust is temporary.
🧱 The noise is necessary.
🧱 And the vision is divine.

Sometimes, you’ve got to look on yourself.
That’s what my mama says when it’s time to pull it together, lift your head, and walk in your purpose—no matter how tired or unsure you might feel. 💛
As school leaders, we carry big vision, heavy burdens, and so many people’s hopes on our shoulders. But every now and then, we must stop and say to ourselves:
I don’t have to know it all today.
I just have to stay aligned, anchored, and aware.
My discernment is growing. My leadership is stretching.
And the right people, positions, and pieces will align in divine timing.
I lead with clarity, not chaos. With grace, not guilt.
God’s got the gaps.
This school year, I’m walking with peace in my posture, and faith in my framework.
I’ve made the plan. I’ve done the work. And now I trust that the plan will work—because it was built with intention, integrity, and impact in mind.
So if you’re a leader reading this, here’s your reminder:
✅ Affirm yourself.
✅ Encourage yourself.
✅ Speak life over your own steps.
Because the truth is—you are called to this.
Let this be your season of clarity over chaos.
Of grace over guilt.
And of alignment over anxiety.
🗣️ Look on yourself. And then go lead like the table was built for you.

“Another year around the sun — and still standing strong in purpose. ✨”
Today, I pause not just to celebrate my birthday, but to honor the journey — 23 years in education, 8 years in leadership, and stepping into year 4 as Principal of Washington-Marion Magnet High School.
This past year brought growth, challenges, resilience, and countless reminders that leadership isn’t always easy — but it is always worth it.
I’ve learned:
🔑 Stillness matters.
💡 Alignment matters.
🫶🏽 Self-care matters.
To every student who inspires me, every staff member who supports the vision, every parent who partners with us, and every community member who believes in excellence — thank you.
Here’s to another year of serving with heart, leading with vision, and growing in grace.

📝 Food for Thought
I ran across this post in my Facebook memories from 2012—over a decade ago—and the logic still holds weight. Some of these, I’ve grown in. Others, I’m still working through daily. But one thing I know: wisdom has a way of revisiting you right on time.
💭 Which of these “lovely logics” speaks to you today?

🧘🏽♀️✨ Birthday Weekend Reset ✨💅🏽
This year, I’m not waiting on a party, permission, or applause. I’m pouring back into me.
So here’s my “Fill My Cup” Self-Care Guide — no frills, no pressure, just peace. 🫖
💖 Because showing up for everyone means I must show up for myself, too.
⸻
📌 Crystal’s Birthday Self-Care Guide:
🌿 1. “Tea & Talk with God”
Candle lit. Favorite tea steeped. Journal open. Ask: “What do I need more of? What can I let go of?”
🛋️ 2. Bible + Blanket Time
One Psalm. One quiet moment. Psalm 34 hits different these days.
📴 3. Do Not Disturb Break
30 minutes. No phone. No feed. Just breathe.
💄 4. Glow Up Moment
Brows done ✔️
Lips popping ✔️
New scent, outfit or facial mask = instant vibe reset
👗 5. Find a Birthday Fit
Powerful. Pretty. Professional. Even if it’s just for me.
🍽️ 6. Table for One = Power Meal
A solo lunch or dinner where I take up space in gratitude.
🎥 7. Movie + Memory Night
“Waiting to Exhale,” “Eat Pray Love,” or just “Girlfriends” reruns on deck.
🛣️ 8. Mini Drive or Solo Staycation
Even a short ride to feel free. Music up. Worries down.
📝 9. Love Letter to Future Me
“Dear Crystal, I’m proud of you. Keep unfolding. Keep showing up.”
🎉 10. Be Still + Celebrate Anyway
I’m not where I want to be—but I’m still here. And that’s worth honoring.
⸻
📆 Birthday is Monday, but I’m giving myself a whole weekend of grace.
If you needed a sign to pause, rest, or reflect… this is it. 💛
