COULD IT BE THAT STUDENTS ARE CAPABLE OF FAR MORE THAN WE HAVE IMAGINED?
Through a series of books that I read about 9 years ago, I began to believe that high school students are capable of much more than I'd ever thought or imagined. One of the books talked about a type of learning where students did real work in the real world and that work actually made a difference! After every story of a student doing incredible things, I thought, 'Oh my goodness…this is the way education ought to be.'
Well, we finally had the opportunity to build a similar school and that’s exactly what we did!
But allow me to share some of our real-life student achievements..
HERE ARE THEIR STORIES… (from some of this year’s students)
Joel worked with a mentor named Jet Andrepont, who leads worship and writes worship songs. One day while they were on the phone, they started writing their first worship song together. Joel also visited with Jace Verdin, who runs Blacksmith Studios, and Jace taught Joel how to record his own song. So now Joel was ready and equipped to write his own song. And that’s precisely what Joel did, writing and then producing his very first worship song! Moreover, he played and sang the song at one of our student presentation nights (they are awesome & you should come!). Students really are amazing!!!
Victoria had an interest in baking and even had amazing pictures of herself as a wee, little girl baking in the kitchen! Soon after she began co-op, she visited with Joe at Joe's party house where she asked questions and saw how a real-life bakery worked. We continued to talk and plan and Victoria eventually decided to start a baking business out of her home. At Bethel and our co-op, students do presentations where they publicly share their work. For Victoria’s presentation, she decided to announce the opening of her baking business, Victoria’s Joyful Bakes. It was amazing! She had samples of all her sweet treats for students, parents, and anyone else to sample! She passed out her business cards as well. At Bethel and co-op, we believe that for a business to have maximum impact and success, God must be at the forefront and this is true with Victoria’s Joyful Bakes!
Galea loved her internship at The Edge Hair Shop. Soon after she completed the internship (btw, students choose internships and we never force it), she had the idea to start her own business. Her mother and I were not totally sure about this idea. However, we soon changed our minds. We had a guest speaker, Ormise Scott, come to lead our devotion. We have some really awesome speakers at devotion including Sharon Ardizzone at Crossroads Church, George Rodrigues of the Vineyard, Nick Perioux of Pats of Hendersons to name just a few. Anyway, Gales went up for prayer after devotion and Ormise prayed about her starting a business even though he had no idea she was thinking about that! We love how God confirms things and sometimes even redirects things altogether (another student story)!
And that's just a few of the stories...
ALL THE DETAILS…
Our fourth year of Career Co-op for Homeschoolers starts in August of 2026. We meet at Christ Community Church from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. Our first meeting will be Thursday, August 18, 2025. Payment is on a month-to-month basis and we do a money-back guarantee.
Also, if you are looking for a school that handles everything (math, reading, writing, etc) for your student, Bethel Christian High School will do that as well. (We are a high school but have been known to take some younger students.) Whatever the case, we honestly do not have unlimited slots.
Please message me (Brad Moore) ASAP to reserve your slot!
WHO IS THIS BRAD?
I am a 4th generation educator and the director of the Bethel Christian High School and our Careers Co-op. My father, Dr. David Moore, was the founding principal at Hamilton Christian Academy (1989-2003) here in Lake Charles. So education has always been in my family. I also have a seminary degree and worked as a youth pastor for several years. Part of my God-given calling is helping young men and women come into their assignments (or find their unique calling), whatever that might be. A key piece to all of this, however, are parent(s), who have incredible, God-given wisdom and insights into their child!
Please message me (Brad Moore) ASAP if you have questions
