If your teen is registered for the ACT in October or December, THIS IS FOR YOU!

The ACT has changed—and students need preparation that reflects its new format.

My four-week ACT Intensive was created for the students who are working hard but still feel stuck, especially those trying to reach the 23 required for TOPS Honors.

Students will receive:

• Four 90-minute sessions
• A diagnostic assessment
• A personalized improvement plan
• Three official ACT practice tests
• Targeted skill instruction
• Pacing and test-taking strategies
• Preparation based on the ACT’s newly updated format

I created this course with my actual students in mind. Some of the students who once sat in my classroom are juniors now, and I have noticed there is a reoccurring concern of theirs: ACT scores! This was built for them.

I combined what I know about the ACT with what I know about teenagers, how they learn, and what helps them build confidence and make meaningful progress.

It’s that time of year again! Instead of weekly tutoring, I’m offering a 2 hour ACT Fast Track Class for students taking the enhanced ACT this summer. There are dates available for each summer session ACT test:

The sessions for the June test are on *June 6 at 11 AM *and *June 9 at 11 AM * The session for the July test is *July 8th at 11am.*
Both will be at the Calcasieu Parish Public Library.

Class Description:

ACT Fast Track helps students improve their ACT performance by teaching them how the test actually works. Instead of overwhelming content review, students learn strategic pacing, time management, elimination techniques, common test patterns, and confidence-building systems that help them approach the ACT smarter, faster, and with less anxiety.

By the end of the year, the lessons I am most proud of are the ones that succeed without me (or almost without me)!

The time that goes into teaching my students the skills to succeed in group discussions without constant instruction and modification is so worth it. They are so proud, and they feel ready to take on the world 🌎

I started creating some schedule and login info templates for my own students to personalize and then figured you guys may have fun with them too!
My middle schoolers love customizing their learning space with these. I’m still finishing them up, but wanted to give y’all a heads up.

I also made ppt. Versions for my Microsoft peeps!

TIP: have your student save the slide as an image when they finish adding their info and then set it as their desktop background. Sets the stage for learning and an easy reference!

UPDATE:
*calcasieu only* while students will not be penalized if they cannot complete virtual assignments yet, they will be held accountable for completing them when school reopen, along with their current schoolwork

Both Calcasieu and Cameron Parish School Board Office's released a public statement regarding plans for returning to School.
Calcasieu states a number of their schools will be open for face to face learning sometime next week, and nearly all schools opening by the third week in October.

Calcasieu parish students have been enrolled in a virtual program that is optional in the mean time. Students will not be penalized for lack of participation.

Cameron Parish will implement a virtual program for all of it's students with a tentative start date of Oct. 5. This date is subject to change based on when their at&t hotspots arrive. Their hope is that they will be delivered by the end of this week. Once hotspots are ready, students and parents will be informed about how, when and where to pick up their student's learning device.

Preparing for this school year has been a journey filled with more road blocks than I can count. That was before Hurricane Laura forced our affected school districts to address all new obstacles.

Are we tired? You bet.
Are we nervous? Sure.

But we are not defeated, and to be honest, there’s no one better for this type of adversity than us.
