If you have not had your formal senior pictures taken, please make plans to attend on Thursday.

✨ There is NO COST for the pictures if you choose not to purchase a package. These formal senior pictures are the photos that will be used in the yearbook, so seniors who have not been photographed should make every effort to attend!

Good Evening,

Lake Butler Elementary School will resume classes tomorrow, and attendance will be taken and counted.

Union County High School will remain closed for one more day to allow for the completion of repairs. Classes and extracurricular activities will resume as scheduled on Friday, August 21, 2026.

Buses will run their routes as normal. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during these unusual circumstances.

Due to the severe storm that came through Lake Butler last night, our school district suffered damage that led to us not having students at school today. The damage included trees being knocked down, fences being damaged due to falling trees and limbs, and systems such as electricity, internet, air conditioning, and other safety systems not operating as they should. We also experienced damage to the UCHS Gym on the Senior side of the campus, which allowed rainwater to enter the roof.

After meeting with school and district administrators and school board members, we agreed that the safest and most prudent course of action is not to have school today so we can fully assess the situation and work to restore our systems to good working order.

Throughout today, we will have clean-up crews on the campuses, along with electricians and other specialists seeking to get things back on track. As we complete work and make repairs throughout the day, we will keep you updated on progress and what our situation will be for school tomorrow.

Due to storm damage to the UCHS school facilities, school will be cancelled for students on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

Faculty and staff should report to their assigned campus at their normally scheduled time.
