At devotional, President John S.K. Kauwe III and Sister Monica S. Kauwe taught that being a child of God, a child of the covenant, and a disciple of Jesus Christ provides strength and peace through life’s challenges. They introduced five pillars of the BYU–Hawaii experience: faith, intellect, self-reliance, resilience, and leadership. President and Sister Kauwe encouraged students to develop these qualities through simple, consistent practices that prepare them to bless others throughout Oceania and the Asian Rim.
