Question: Whose responsibility do you think it is to help improve the condition of the homeless? Is it the government's job? Is it religious organizations? Is it the homeless themselves? Is it private individuals? Is nobody responsible to help? I'm curious to know others' thoughts

Hey everyone! I know it’s been a long rime since I’ve posted on here, but some updates. We’ve been working with the homeless in the areas around Laie and Hauula and have made some good connections with social workers and the community. We made some efforts to make sure people were safe for the possible storm last week and did some outreach this week. Today we were involved in taking our friend Steve to the hospital for needed medical care. He’s in the hospital now, but we’re looking into getting him a better housing situation. One of the options is a tiny house, that would need to be placed on someone’s property. I thought I should reach out here and see if anyone knows any property owners in the Laie area that would be willing to place a tiny house on the premesis, either for free or for financial compensation. Message me if you know of anyone, it would be a life saver for Steve! Thanks guys!

The donation to Shelter the Homeless will help Salt Lake-area homeless transition into housing. The church's stated goal is "to elevate their personal circumstances." The LDS Church now has given $52 million to groups serving the homeless.

Happy Easter Everyone!

We putting together an Easter Dinner today for our homeless Ohana! 4:00 today at the stake center kitchen we’ll be assembling the food plates to take out. Feel free to join us in our service! You can bring food or items to pass out if you would like to, or just come yourself to serve!

Aloha family!

So sorry for the silence in the group!

We have been working on a lot of different projects. We are going to be sharing some celebrations as well as informing everyone about the new service opportunities tomorrow!

We have a guest speaker coming out from the Homeless community in Waianae who is hoping to work with us on a few different projects.

Tomorrow at 7:00 HGB 113. We’ll have some pizza. Bring refreshments if you can!

If anyone wants to join with us, we’ll be visiting the elderly every Sunday. Our organization’s goal is to help people who are making loving relationships to feel love and support. The elderly are in need of positive relationships just like the homeless.

This week we played games, played piano and gustar and talked story. If you have a talent you want to show feel free to let us know!
