Gratitude for a Valuable Journey at the Polynesian Cultural Center!
I am deeply grateful for my professional experience at the Polynesian Cultural Center.
I spent two years in the Food and Beverage Department and it was instrumental in my growth. I began as a team member and later took on the responsibilities of a Lead. I particularly enjoyed working on the food line, where our duties included efficient food pickup, hot and cold food arrangement, meticulous cleaning, and orderly waste management.
Working at the bustling Hale Aloha was always a high-energy experience. It taught me the importance of proactivity, alertness, and teamwork. I learned crucial skills such as:
Team Leadership: Guiding a team, often four to eight individuals, through fast-paced operations.
Inventory and Accountability: Properly accounting for items.
Communication: Effectively interacting with peers and managers.
Safety and Standards: Learning to safely use chemicals, manage waste, and preserve food.
More than the technical skills, the Center instilled in me the profound values of preserving and honoring cultures and relationships, continually emphasizing the need to go above and beyond for our guests, or ohana.
The friendships forged there are ones I will hold dear for a lifetime.
