While scrolling through my phone, I came across this video of my students performing “You Are My Sunshine.” ☀️🎶

I couldn’t help but smile.🥰

Seeing these keiki now—sharing their voices, their talents, and their joy with so much confidence—fills my heart with so much happiness and pride. ❤️

I remember when some of them were still finding the courage to sing out loud or perform in front of others. Now, seeing them confidently sharing their music is such a beautiful reminder of how much they can grow when they are given the opportunity, encouragement, and a safe space to shine.

I couldn’t keep this moment to myself, so I had to share it with my friends. I hope it brings a smile to your face and warms your heart the same way it did mine.

And to all of our parents, guardians, and supporters—thank you. ❤️ Your encouragement, trust, and continued support give these keiki the opportunity to discover their voices, build confidence, and share their gifts.

When we invest in our keiki, we are investing in our future generation. 🌺

🎵 WHY RHYTHM MATTERS

It’s More Than Just Keeping the Beat!

When children clap, tap, march, or play along to a rhythm, they’re doing much more than making music. Their brains are practicing important skills that can support learning both inside and outside the music room.

1. Rhythm Can Support Reading Skills

Reading requires children to recognize patterns, follow sequences, and process information in the correct order. Rhythm also teaches children to recognize patterns and sequences—skills that are important when learning letters, words, sounds, and sentences.

2. Rhythm Builds Coordination

Clapping to a beat, tapping an instrument, or playing different rhythms requires the brain and body to work together. These activities help children practice timing, motor control, and coordination.

3. Rhythm Strengthens Focus

Keeping a steady beat requires children to listen carefully, pay attention, remember patterns, and respond at the right moment. Over time, these musical activities can help children practice sustained attention and self-control.

Our After School Music Club is officially underway, and it's been wonderful to see our keiki beginning their musical journey with excitement, curiosity, and smiles. Every lesson is a new opportunity to learn, grow, and build confidence through the power of music.
