Real science, real data, real stakes. 🌊

This week, Mrs. Merrill’s Environmental Science class headed to Honolua Bay to collect water quality data firsthand.

Students are comparing their findings to University of Hawaii research spanning pre-fire, post-fire, and current conditions in our protected reef areas — tracking how water quality has changed over time.

This is just the beginning of a long-term project where students will collect and compare data across multiple bays in West Maui, digging into the sustainability issues affecting the health of our local waters.

Real fieldwork, real research, real impact. 🐠🔬

Hands-on learning in action at Maui Prep! 🌺

This week our students were engineers, coders, and scientists all in one classroom.

Building structures, programming robots, running real experiments, and even taking their learning outside.

Every project starts with a question and ends with real data, real teamwork, and a whole lot of pride in what they built.

Swipe through to see it all! 🙌🏼

Teamwork makes the tower work! 🏗️

Two 2nd grade students collaborate to reinforce their marshmallow structure using their blueprint as a guide.

Focused and building strong 💪

Every angle and connection point matters when engineering with marshmallows and toothpicks!

Before the building begins, the planning does.

These students sketched out their structure design step by step before bringing it to life.

Comparing notes and structure sketches — collaboration is a huge part of the design process here at Maui Prep.

Coding meets creativity! First grade students programs their robots to navigate a mini city, learning directional commands along the way. 🤖

A city full of robots! Our first grade students worked together to code and drive their robots through a shared course, learning teamwork and problem-solving.

What makes the best paper airplane? ✈️

Fifth grade student Staley tested different paper types, timed their flights, and graphed his data to find out.

Presenting the results! 🍎

These students shared their apple-growing experiment findings, complete with hand-drawn graphs and fun facts.

Taking learning outside!

Can YOU outrun a dinosaur? 🦖

Our 3rd graders measured their own leg lengths, then compared their strides to some of their favorite dinosaurs to find out — would they be fast enough to outrun a dino with similar-length legs?

Science, math, and a little friendly competition with prehistoric creatures. 🏃💨

X Block is bringing Agrabah to life! 🕌✨

In Mrs. Smith’s X Block class, students are working in groups to design and build storefronts for the marketplace scene in our Aladdin set.

Today’s focus was texturing, adding that clay/stucco finish to give each building an authentic Agrabah feel.

So much creativity and teamwork happening in these groups — can’t wait to see the finished marketplace!
