I thought some of you might be interested in this, especially if you're also in HOSA. This is the trailer for Johnny Depp's new movie about Minamata Disease. Having lived in Kumamoto, it hits close to home for me. Minamata Disease, as it's named after the town in Kumamoto Prefecture, was caused by mercury poisoning from a local chemical plant in the 1960s and 70s. Minor cases have symptoms including loss of hearing, vision and muscle control. Severe cases lead to insanity and death. It's arguably the worst case of pollution and corporate malfeasance in modern Japanese history.
