Starting in 2009, we taught Spanish classes throughout Chicago's North Shore for all ages from pre school through adults. Some of our locations included Glencoe Park District, JCYS Lutz Center, Children's Center Pre School at Lakeside Congregation and Northfield Community Nursery School as well as after school programs at elementary schools. One of my students told me that yesterday was “the best Spanish class ever”. Classes made salsa. They learned the items they needed as well as the ingredients. Then, they all participated in making a delicious salsa. What a fun way to end a wonderful school year. See you next year Red Apple families.

¡Feliz cinco de mayo! Do you know what cinco de mayo celebrates? It commemorates the victory at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. The French had a trained army of 8,000 soldiers and 4,000 Mexicans unexpectedly were victorious against the powerful soldiers from France. The victory symbolizes national unity.
