Contrary to popular thinking, summer time should not be “down time” for students. It is rather the perfect time to learn and improve one’s skills.
A research synthesis on summer learning loss, conducted by Professor Harris Cooper, indicated that “summer learning loss equaled at least one month of instruction as measured by grade level equivalents on standardized test scores - on average, children's tests scores were at least one month lower when they returned to school in fall than scores were when students left in spring.” Months of learning can be lost over the summer!
At UCAN our summer program is designed to prepare students for the first quarter of the upcoming school year. Call us for more information.
