Middleton Idaho Middle Schooler Brings Home Another Championship!

(National Field Archery Association) Chris Fong of Middleton, Idaho recently won the prestigious award of “Youth Male Freestyle” in Archery at the S3DA Vegas Shoot National Championships held at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Every year, thousands of archery from all over the world come to this National/International event to win thousands of dollars, awards and scholarships from Manufacturers and Sponsors. This year, “The Vegas Shoot” had the largest attendance in its history. Nearly 4000 participants were at the South Point Arena, shooting for four days of elimination matches. The National Field Archery Association (NFAA) & Scholastic 3D Archery (S3DA) held matches for 28 separate disciplines of archery for Male & Female of all ages.

Chris Fong, a Middleton, Idaho resident has been competing in Archery & Shotgun sports for the last 5 ½ years with the Canyon County 4H Shooting Sports – Shooting Stars program. Chris is the 4H State Intermediate Champion in both Archery & Shotgun since 2018. Chris currently shoots Archery for the S3DA Phoenix Shooters & 4H Shooting Stars out of Nampa/Caldwell, Idaho. Chris practices 6 days a week and can usually be seen at Endless Archery, Archery Central or the Nampa Indoor Range. Chris will be attending Middleton High School next year and hopes to compete in more National Indoor & Outdoor events.

Next up, USA JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development Program) Indoor Target Championships & USA 54th Indoor Target Championships being held this Friday 2/24 thru Sunday 2/26/2023 in Salt Lake City.

If you plan on residing in Idaho continuously for 185 days or more, hold an Idaho driver's license and no felony convictions, apply to be a Idaho Hunter Education Instructor.

If you recently moved or plan on moving to Idaho, Idaho Department of Fish & Game is recruiting Hunter Education Instructors for all 7 regions. IDFG has a Hunter, Hunter/Bow Combo, Bowhunting, Trapper and for those that have Federal qualification, Wolf Trapping.

New Hunting & Shooting Sports Skills Program recently added.

Typical Requirements:
1) Application
2) Fingerprints
3) No Felony Convictions
4) No disqualifying Misdemeanors Convictions
5) Current Hunter Education Certification does help, but not required.
6) No book keeping required by Instructor
7) Event Manager experience helps, but not required.
8) Must bring a Positive attitude to the program and leave the old oppressive attitude behind.
