This week marks 20 years of Group Y. It started in a living room with a few friends and no playbook. Just a belief that good things happen when people connect.

Since then: 290 events, 1,000+ speakers, and content reaching millions. The community grew from action sports and expanded into lifestyle, music, fashion, art, tech, and marketing, organically, one conversation at a time.

If I scrolled through my connections right now, most of them would trace back to a conversation at a Group Y event.

Charles Eames described it better than I ever could:

"Eventually everything connects. The quality of the connections is the key to quality itself."

Twenty years taught me that the group matters more than the individual. Every event, every speaker, every conversation reinforced it. And through all of it, one thing never changed: community first, no velvet ropes, unfiltered access. That's the heart of Group Y.

I'm grateful for everyone who made Group Y what it is today, and I'm still humbled by this community. On to the next.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 kicks off this week — and the brand identity you’ll be seeing across 16 cities and 3 countries was build by one small, intentional agency.

We sat down with Nate Morley, founder of Works Collective, to talk abou what it actually takes to win the world’s biggest creative briefs. FIFA World Cup 2026, LA28 Olympics. And the philosophy that drives it all.

“You don’t want to be a taker from culture. You want to be a contributor and an amplifier.”

The RETURN of FUEL TV — US Relaunch Celebration

Wednesday, June 11, 2026
Rivian Theatre, Laguna Beach, CA
6:30pm Doors / 7:00pm Show

Join us for a Special Event screening of Taylor Steele’s Drive Through South America – in conjunction with the Coast Film & Music Festival

FUEL TV — the legendary home of action sports, music, and culture — is back in the US. Born in 2003 and broadcasting to over 130 countries, FUEL TV built a global community united by skating, surfing, snowboarding, moto and BMX. After years of growing the brand worldwide, FUEL TV is coming home. This is the official US relaunch — and Orange County is where it all begins again.

The evening will be hosted by legendary FUEL TV host Pat Parnell, who will MC the night and introduce a live panel to meet the team behind the brand in person, hear where FUEL TV is headed, and be part of the first chapter of what comes next.

The night will also feature a special screening of Drive Thru South America, and conversation with its legendary director, Taylor Steele. Steele’s work has long been synonymous with the soul and spirit of action sports filmmaking, and his presence underscores the caliber of talent and storytelling that FUEL TV has always championed.

In this week’s Group Y Content, we revisit last month’s CreativityFlow talk with Brian Gase, VP of Engineering Quality at Rivian, whose journey from aerospace student to Rivian’s fourth employee offers powerful lessons on creativity, collaboration, and building the impossible.

We are celebrating 20 years of Group Y, taking a moment to reflect on two decades of conversations, community, and ideas that have continually pushed creativity, culture, and business forward. We revisit "Future Proofing 101," where Brian McDonell of melin discussed how betting on yourself and deeply listening to consumers can help create brands that transcend categories.
