Raising Kids in the Age of AI and Misinformation 11/12/2025

Tips and Tools to Navigate the world of AI. We are living through a dramatic turning point in technology and information. Just recently, while chatting with my son on FaceTime, he showed me a new AI app that listens to conversations in real time, providing relevant information and even calculating complex equations without anyone knowing it's being used. This glimpse into the near future made me realize how different the world is for our children — where AI is not just a tool but an invisible companion shaping what they know and how they think.

Raising Kids in the Age of AI and Misinformation “The future of AI is not just about building smarter machines, but building machines that help us become smarter humans.” Fei-Fei Li is a professor at Stanford University in the Computer Science Department and co-direc...

Why Local Elections Matter 10/15/2024

Voting locally is one most empowering and important roles you can have as a citizen. Vote for school board candidates and city council members who embrace public discourse, govern with ethical leadership, create and enforce policies that are best for our community (inclusive of all members), and will shape our purpose. Your vote does matter locally so I encourage you to VOTE!! More importantly, lets use this time as a teachable moment for our children so they learn the value of democracy.

Why Local Elections Matter In this lesson, students explore the ways that decisions by local government affect their lives. They’ll review research and data about a few recent local elections to push back against the myth that a single vote doesn’t count. They’ll learn how laws in their state encourage or suppress voter...

I just asked ChatGPT what are the most important things you should know about a person….AI response has some deep insight:

It's important to consider that everyone is unique and it's not possible to identify a set of universally "important" things to know about a person. However, some things that may be important to know about a person include:

Their values and beliefs: Understanding a person's values and beliefs can help you understand their motivations, behaviors, and decision-making processes.

Their interests and hobbies: Knowing a person's interests and hobbies can help you find common ground and topics to talk about.

Their communication style: It's important to understand how a person communicates, including their preferred mode of communication (e.g., in person, over the phone, via email), their level of assertiveness, and their preferred level of formality.

Their needs and boundaries: It's important to respect a person's needs and boundaries, and understanding them can help you interact with them in a way that is respectful and considerate.

Their relationships and connections: Understanding a person's relationships and connections can help you understand their social support system and how they fit into their community.

Again, it's important to keep in mind that everyone is unique, and what is important to know about a person will depend on the specific context and relationship you have with them.
