This is how old kids must be to learn coding! Is your child ready?
At what age should kids be learning to code? Is your child ready for it yet? And what should you do to, if they’re not the right age yet, but you still want them to be prepared for a tech-enabled world?

Watch now: Will this 2 minute video motivate kids to learn coding?
I have created a 2 minute video that your child can watch right now and I really believe that any kid who has an inclination toward computers and technology, will be extremely motivated to learn coding with me once they see it.

What programming language should kids learn in 2020?
Something you’ve probably been wondering, if you have a child and think that it’s a good idea for them to learn computer programming, or if you are a kid and you want to get into coding.

My 10 & 11 year old students are becoming smarter than me!
I'm a firm believer of "the student and the teacher create the teaching", and my two lessons this morning affirmed just that.
My student Colin and I are having high level, almost philosophical discussions about what it means to write elegant code (as opposed to practical code), and how to set SMART goals. Meanwhile Colin is writing code so complex, I can barely keep up (to be honest my eyes kinda glaze over when he's coding).
When working with him, I'm at my own frontiers of skill and knowledge, which challenges me to come up with new strategies for what to teach him, to help him progress further.
This is no longer Computer programming, it's "programming kids for success"!
And my other Student, Joshua is learning how to build an iPhone app. Full disclaimer: I have no idea how to do this. I don't have a Mac or an iPhone. So he is teaching himself how to do it, with my guidance.
So we're both learning how to code Swift and use X-Code, reading the official documentation from Apple Developers. We've found ourselves skipping the same long paragraphs, because "blahblahbla, boring" just to then realize that maybe we should have paid more attention, because something isn't working right... haha!
Joshua also made an amazing variation of the cartoon person he drew a few months back, and turned him into different types of zombies. Check out the hilarious details!! I'm amazed...
The other picture is of Colin's mathematically elegant code that I have a hard time understanding.
I am grateful for the lessons I am learning from ALL of my students, as they show me what's needed and prepare me to teach 1000s of kids how to code. :-)
